Oz Hina looked at the cheering Players.
She could understand most of what these people said when they talked.
But sometimes, their words would suddenly turn into chaotic static.
Even with her language system's anti-interference and decoding functions activated, she could not eliminate the noise.
This abnormal phenomenon put her on alert.
The moment Qin Yun saw Oz Hina's expression, he realized she had noticed the Players' anomaly.
After a moment's thought, Qin Yun decided to be honest and earn her trust.
"Could we speak in private, Priest Oz Hina? There are some matters we need to discuss somewhere discreet."
Faced with Qin Yun's invitation, Hina hesitated briefly before nodding.
A row of Cogitator wetware and Calculation Servitors lined the metal walls, emitting a steady chorus of beeps and clicks.
More than a dozen projection displays floated in the air, giving off a pallid glow.
Qin Yun and Hina walked deeper into the Data Control Room.
This place was far from the Players.
"I assume you've already realized that we're unusual."
Qin Yun went straight to the point, with no intention of wasting time.
"Those people outside aren't ordinary humans. They are God Chosen blessed by the God-Emperor, walking among Stellaris as His will."
Qin Yun's words made Hina's eyes widen. Shock appeared on the face fitted with metal prosthetics, but it quickly faded.
"Your claim lacks sufficient data to prove that you are chosen emissaries of the Omnissiah."
"Then can this prove it?"
Qin Yun extended his hand and activated Emperor's Light.
Golden radiance curled around his fingers.
"Cadia has fallen. The evil forces of Chaos are invading the real universe on an unprecedented scale, and humanity will face the most terrifying and darkest Era Indomitus."
"But this is also humanity's opportunity. The God-Emperor is humanity's strongest Psyker. The emergence of the Great Rift has not merely strengthened those fiends—it has also granted Him greater power, allowing Him the capacity to do more."
"He chose me, made me a Living Saint, and tasked me with leading these chosen ones, tempering them, and preparing for the final war."
The Servo-skull connected to Oz Hina's spine hummed as it flew out and scanned the radiance in Qin Yun's palm.
A vast amount of data flooded into Hina's processing core.
The analysis showed that this radiance brought pleasure to Machine Spirits and suppressed Warp creatures.
It matched every known characteristic of the Omnissiah's divine power.
This sacred data phenomenon caused Oz Hina's computational load to surge.
The auxiliary logic modules within her skull operated at high speed.
Scalding steam blasted from her vents.
Qin Yun's nose twitched. He seemed to catch the scent of flesh being roasted.
He looked at Oz Hina with some concern, afraid she might fry her brain.
After waiting for a long while, Oz Hina finished thinking and reached a conclusion.
She decided to believe the man before her.
After all, no matter how bad things became, they could not be worse than they already were.
In this desperate age steeped in Chaos and darkness, the appearance of a group of the Omnissiah's God Chosen was not something impossible to accept.
"By the holy Omnissiah, how should I address you?"
Oz Hina humbly lowered her head toward Qin Yun. The turning of the gears along her spine echoed through the noisy Data Control Room.
Qin Yun let out a breath of relief. If Oz Hina had been stubbornly rigid, they would have been finished.
She currently controlled all the automated weapon systems in the entire area.
At a single thought from her, they could have been blasted to pieces.
"You may call me the Guide. Thank you for your trust, Priest Hina. With your help, I believe we can complete the God-Emperor's mission more smoothly and protect humanity from evil."
"I will assist you with all my strength, Guide. What is our next mission?"
"Our most urgent task is to eliminate the surface Rebels and assist the loyalists in retaking control of Planet Automata. How much do you know about the situation on the surface?"
Oz Hina shook her head. "I know nothing about the situation on the surface."
"The communications system in Leikade Space went offline after being damaged by virus code released by the Rebels. We cannot receive information from either the ground or the Void."
"Then how did you contact us?" Qin Yun asked curiously.
"I have a small communications module inside my body that can transmit data and communicate over a limited distance."
Qin Yun's expression turned thoughtful.
After weighing his options, he decided to reclaim Lycade Station first before heading down to the surface.
Lycade Station had a massive port and shipyards.
The Imperial Glory could undergo repairs there and replenish its ammunition and supplies.
The Players would also have much more room to move around there.
"Hina, which Forge World are you from?" Qin Yun asked.
"I'm from Triplex Phall, a Forge World located on the edge of the galaxy."
Hina's answer surprised Qin Yun somewhat.
Having been chosen by the Emperor to toil like a beast of burden, he was naturally a Warhammer fan who knew Imperial intelligence inside and out.
Triplex Phall was also a Forge World with quite a story behind it in Warhammer.
That Forge World was situated at the very edge of the Ultima Segmentum in the eastern part of the galaxy.
Because it was too far from Mars, it had remained autonomous for a long time.
They possessed plenty of dark technology, and their products were supplied to the Imperial military.
Yet they never shared their knowledge with Mars.
The delegations Mars sent either returned empty-handed or brought back blueprints missing crucial details.
Such behavior infuriated those Archmagos of Mars.
Qin Yun was very pleased with Hina's background.
After all, most of what the Players did was wildly unconventional.
If Hina had been a conservative from Mars, there would have been plenty of trouble down the line.
"By the way, do you understand biological enhancement, prosthetic implantation, and weapon maintenance?"
Hina nodded. "I am a maintenance priest. I have to maintain machinery and manufacture Servitors, so naturally I understand these basic skills."
"Very good. From now on, you're the owner of the Cybernetic Prosthetics Shop. The God Chosen will use the Contribution Points they earn from completing missions to purchase your goods."
"When the time comes, you can also issue missions and have them work for you."
Qin Yun gave Oz Hina a detailed explanation of the Contribution Point system.
He also granted her secondary authority to issue missions.
"By the Omnissiah," Oz Hina said with a puzzled expression, "why make things so troublesome? Isn't obeying orders what they are supposed to do?"
"They're a little different." Qin Yun paused. "They are the God-Emperor's chosen, and each of them has ideas of their own."
"I don't know why the God-Emperor did this either. His wisdom is not something I can fathom."
"The only thing I can do is find a way to guide these God Chosen and have them properly complete the tasks entrusted to them by the God-Emperor."
Qin Yun dumped the parts he could not explain onto the Emperor.
Given the current Empire's fervent faith in the Emperor, he figured no one would dare question it.
"I cannot understand this method, but I will carry out your orders."
Oz Hina was somewhat confused by Qin Yun's words.
But out of trust, she still chose to believe Qin Yun and carry out every order he gave.
PS: Here's a Commissar Khaine joke.
Thank you all for your support. Shamelessly asking for continued reading and all kinds of votes.
Because I went to bed too late last night, the second chapter may be a little slower.
