Missing Translucent

Over the next few days, Li Wei remained extremely busy. His main objective was to spend time with Starlight—he was truly coveting her powers.

At the same time, Ashley arranged several team-ups for them, and the response was quite good. Everyone liked watching handsome men and beautiful women together, and their relationship quickly grew warmer.

Her skin was bluish-purple, her body hair was as thick as a black bear's, she stood 2.3 meters tall, weighed 300 kilograms, and especially enjoyed being on top.

Second, aside from basic boosts to physical ability, their powers were not necessarily suited for combat. Many could be entirely replaced by modern technology.

Their advantage might only lie in being living human beings, making them more intelligent and far more adaptable.

So after a series of screenings, Li Wei discovered in astonishment that there were only a few dozen people truly suitable for him and capable of providing him with a certain degree of growth.

The only fortunate thing was that several third-rate superheroes possessed levitation or flight, and because that was their sole ability, they generally were not doing very well.

With Li Wei's current status, getting close to them should not be much of a problem.

But none of that needed to be rushed. For now, Starlight remained the priority.

During his investigation, Li Wei had also uncovered quite a few little secrets about these superheroes, which he could conveniently share with Starlight as gossip.

Starlight, meanwhile, mainly complained to Li Wei about The Seven, focusing most of her fire on The Deep, whom she had a grudge against, followed by A-Train and Black Noir.

She had also discovered that, aside from apparently having a drinking problem, Maeve might enjoy group activities. Yesterday, she noticed several twisted hairs hidden in the folds of Maeve's skirt, difficult for others to spot. They clearly belonged to different men, since they were different colors.

He simply changed the subject. "What about Translucent?"

At the mention of that name, Starlight's disgust was obvious. On her first day at Vought headquarters, Maeve had warned her that the creepy bastard would use his power to stand naked in the corner of the restroom and peep on people.

"Tch, who knows where that guy ran off to? There was a hospital visit scheduled for today that was originally supposed to be his, but A-Train went in his place."

"Ashley said there's another team patrol tomorrow that was supposed to be him and The Deep. Now Black Noir is replacing him."

Li Wei could not help raising an eyebrow. So Translucent really had gone missing?

He did not know whether his encouragement had worked, or whether Butcher had talked Hughie into it. Hughie had wanted to use the opportunity of signing the compensation agreement with A-Train to plant listening devices at Vought International, only for Translucent to follow the trail back to him.

Then, after a fierce fight, Butcher and Hughie took down Translucent with blood and electricity.

In that case, it probably would not be long before he was completely dead and his body was discovered.

Translucent's power merely transformed his skin temporarily into a carbon-based super material. Splashing any colored liquid on him would reveal him.

Most of his body was indeed as hard as diamond, but his internal organs were still soft. An ass bomb would work very well.

As for that power, Li Wei truly did not covet it. Starlight's defense might not be inferior to Translucent's.

And Translucent had to be naked while invisible. That was far too low-class and far too recognizable.

If Li Wei obtained it and used it himself, Vought International would probably immediately lock him in a black room and treat him like a lab rat.

But regardless, after A-Train's retirement, The Seven would soon have another vacancy.

And if he remembered correctly, in the original plot, Starlight was supposed to replace Translucent and work with The Deep. Yet now Black Noir had taken that role.

It looked like Ashley and Madelyn, the woman behind her, truly wanted to sell him and Starlight as a couple.

Then at such a critical moment, would Vought want him to step up?
