Background / History

Li Wei was originally a Qidian writer from Earth. After transmigrating into The Boys world, he awakened in an 18-year-old body that had spent 18 years asleep. Before his soul fully awakened, he had already graduated from Godolkin University, achieved the highest score at Lamp Lighter Academy for Fighting Evil, and signed a government contract through Vought International. 2

As Angel, Li Wei became the guardian of New Jersey, primarily overseeing Trenton. Vought provided his home, car, contracts, endorsements, and a multimillion-dollar annual signing arrangement, though the company retained most of his earnings. 2 8

His turning point was the appearance of the Hero Codex System, which allowed him to copy the attributes and powers of people who acknowledged him as a friend. He began deliberately building alliances and exploiting relationships to gather powers, first copying Blue Hawk’s archery abilities and later acquiring Starlight’s durability and electricity conversion. 2 4 14

Li Wei expanded beyond Vought’s sphere by investigating Compound V, Sage Grove, mutant facilities, and supernatural artifacts. Li Wei is a young Chinese-descended man whose youthful appearance allows him to pass for around fifteen despite being eighteen. As Angel, he manifests conspicuous light wings and favors highly stylized superhero armor. 3 8

Early in his career, he participates in racist assaults with Blue Hawk and joins Tek Knight in beating prisoners, though he later recognizes racial bias in his own conduct and resolves to be more inclusive.
