"Senior Brother Meng, we'd better be careful."
Inside the truck, Lin Sheng sensed the aura closing in at tremendous speed and spoke up in warning.
Meng Cheng froze for a moment, then quickly nodded.
"Until we're out of Blackwater Ravine, we can't afford even the slightest carelessness."
As he spoke, he looked at Xiao Kui behind the wheel.
"Since there aren't any ghost beasts, speed up. Let's get out of this damned place as quickly as possible."
"Yes, Senior Brother Meng." Xiao Kui immediately stamped hard on the accelerator. Thick smoke billowed from the pickup's exhaust, and its speed surged.
Although the pickup was fast, the approaching aura was even faster. Only a few breaths passed.
Meng Cheng, already poised for battle, finally sensed something wrong and snapped his head toward the strange woods to one side.
Amid the rising mist, a shadowy figure was rapidly approaching.
"I knew it wouldn't be that easy."
His voice was low.
"Xiao Kui, don't stop. Keep speeding up. And you, Junior Brother, stay in the truck. Don't do anything rash."
After giving those instructions, Meng Cheng yanked the door open and shot into the woods like a cannonball.
Roar!!
A terrifying roar soon erupted from the woods, its reverberations sending the mist churning wildly.
Xiao Kui paled slightly and glanced uneasily out the window, but kept the accelerator pressed to the floor.
"We really did run into an Eerie Beast. Judging by that noise, it's probably a big one, too!"
Inside the truck, Lin Sheng said nothing, focusing his perception on the woods.
The mist pouring out of the trees could obstruct his perception to some extent, but with the distance narrowing, he could still clearly identify the Eerie Beast's aura.
