The black-robed Thousand Faces recruits him into Dark Star as a Gray Star Emissary after taking an interest in his extraordinary comprehension and unexplained potential; Lin Sheng later recognizes the recruiter’s identity during their meeting in Chapter 126 62 126. Lin Sheng later enters the Seven Forms Sect, becomes a direct disciple of the Qingniao Institute, and eventually succeeds as the sect’s master amid its destruction and displacement 127 219 255.

Early examinations do not reveal a powerful inherited bloodline. Thousand Faces initially finds no bloodline at all, while later assessments detect only a very faint ape-type trace after Lin Sheng has incorporated ape-type beasts. His apparent lack of bloodline talent limits his initial reception among established martial organizations despite his comprehension and cultivation speed 62 125 127.

After surviving the conflicts surrounding the Seven Forms Sect, Lin Sheng integrates the Blazing-Eyed Flame Dragon and manifests a far more dangerous monstrous form 235 236. After Lin Sheng defeats Zhao Yantai, Tang Chong also prevents Zhao Hongzhang from immediately acting against him. As his spiritual cultivation accelerates, Tang Chong gives him Yin Luo’s original Heavenly Lock Soul Siphon manual and explains the Heaven-and-Earth Shackles and recurring Void Transformation Tribulations that threaten Supreme Grandmasters and Void Beasts 499. He feeds and relocates his parents, cares for Big Yellow, instructs Old Zhou and Xiao Shi in martial arts, and risks exposing himself to protect the Seven Forms Sect’s remnants 62 100 232.
