"Let nature take its course—so that was it?" Filo was disappointed, yet for some reason, she also felt more at ease.
If it could not be sped up, then presumably it could not be stopped either, right? At the very least, it would not be easy, considering Isaac had never really studied the power of fate.
It was not just Isaac who had not studied it. Filo had not either, and the two of them had reached roughly the same conclusion—this was a possible approach!
At least for now.
There was no other reason. The Magic Codex [Book of Ages] wielded by the Witch Anjie was simply too powerful. It could practically manipulate fate however it pleased!
They did not know what price had to be paid to use that Magic Codex, nor did they know the limits of its control over fate. However, based on their understanding of past Magic Codices, it was not hard to reach a conclusion—so long as Anjie lived, the Fate Faction would never rise!
What Filo did not know was that although Isaac was not skilled in the power of fate, he was not incapable of preventing the Emperor's return!
The Emperor's methods might have been exquisitely subtle by knightly standards, but to wizards, they were somewhat lacking—rather straightforward.
Of course, that had its advantages as well. There was less flashiness and more simplicity. The revival method was open and aboveboard, so breaking it would likewise require open and aboveboard methods. The difficulty was about the same.
At least in Isaac's view, from a purely theoretical standpoint, breaking the situation would not be difficult. He even had ways to delay it, accelerate it, stop it, or make the Emperor revive in a nonhuman form!
Of course, that was only in theory. To put it
