After separating the two gods, Grell stopped what he was doing and stood in the void, sword in hand, watching Isaac calmly. Having demonstrated that he still had strength to spare, he dispersed the golden magic power flames and purple lightning surrounding him.
The battle was decided. They were only fighting over a Small World; there was no need to fight to the death.
Isaac was not particularly surprised by this outcome. The Autex Empire had three Demigods, most of them veterans. Grell was actually the youngest, but he was not the weakest.
According to Terra's intelligence, the Autex Empire had another veteran Demigod whose condition was only slightly better than that of the Terra Empire's old Demigod. His strength had not improved in many years. The last was the Demigod who had founded the Autex Empire, the oldest of the three—and he was even stronger than Grell!
Thus, Isaac and the others had only ever had a one-in-three chance of winning this battle.
This was also a major reason Filo had preferred to avoid a fight. Her specialty was using Floating Cities as "Firecrackers." Her Floating City had not yet been fully repaired, and every "Firecracker" placed an enormous burden on it. A mere Small World was not worth her going all out.
That was why they had let Isaac, who paid little price for fighting, gamble on that one-in-three chance.
Unfortunately, he had lost the gamble.
Of course, they had already known how it would end when they learned that Grell was the Demigod being dispatched. Still, some things required going through the motions, and Isaac also wanted to face a Demigod for real.
Combat strength, after all, could only grow to its fullest through battle.
And the result was just as he had expected from the beginning:
