But was that really the case?
After a brief daze, everyone gradually came to their senses. They frowned slightly as they watched the blood mist steadily advance.
Although the Rat Swarm had successfully infiltrated the Black Orc army, it had inflicted little damage. Isaac had strengthened their claws and teeth many times, but the Black Orcs had undergone demonization as well. Their bites could not penetrate those defenses at all.
The blood mist was advancing partly because the Black Orcs' attacks were not airtight, leaving gaps for the Rat Swarm to slip through, and partly because the Black Orc army itself was steadily advancing.
Watching the Black Orc army rapidly approach the fortress, Caesar frowned slightly. "Why not use Gale Demon Wolves? Even unranked ones would be more effective than the Rat Swarm if enough of them fired Wind Blades."
Isaac nodded noncommittally. Under normal circumstances, that would be true.
"That's true, but these rats aren't quite so simple." As he spoke, Hamon casually picked a rat up from the ground and showed it to everyone.
"Huh? Is that... one of the Balu Rat-People?" Barry, who had the most experience fighting Black Orcs, froze for a moment before becoming the first to recognize it. His voice held a trace of uncertainty.
"Correct. Nothing gets past Baron Barry." Isaac nodded with a smile. "Strictly speaking, though, they're called Balu Rats. They're the original form of the Balu Rat-People. Although their sizes differ enormously, their physical structure makes them members of the same race."
Isaac's explanation left everyone puzzled. It sounded impressive, but what use was that?
Ordinary Balu Rat-People had no qualms about slaughtering their own kind. Besides, the enemy Black Orc army consisted of more than just Balu Rat-People, and they had all undergone demonization. They would care even less.
