Background / History

Chaldea was established through Marisbury Animsphere’s long-term plan, with its earliest facilities built around an Animsphere drilling platform before the Fuyuki Holy Grail War. Roman had believed the Chaldea Plan began only after that war, but Kirschtaria later identified this history as part of Marisbury’s deception. 394

In early 2016, Chaldea was a functioning but still peaceful facility directed by Olga-Marie Animusphere, with Lev Lainur Flauros assisting in its management. Its routine was interrupted by a facility-wide alarm and red warning lights. 19

After Chaldea saved humanity from the Human Order Incineration, it faced political scrutiny rather than universal support. The Magecraft Association ordered personnel to remain for investigation, while the United Nations demanded the shutdown of all equipment and barred personnel from leaving the facility. 257 A later assault breached the facility while UN troops assigned to monitor it were still present. 262

The Antarctic headquarters remained physically unaffected by Earth’s whitening because Chaldea’s protective mechanisms were still functioning. However, Sakura found its interior covered in dust and remains that appeared to have aged by roughly a century; Chaldeas itself was sealed in “eternal ice.” 275

Destiny System

Chaldea’s Guardian Hero Summoning System, Destiny, was one of Marisbury’s central projects. Sakura considered its completion a major indicator of Chaldea’s development. 147 213

• Constructed ten Spirit Foundations for immediate Servant deployment during the battle against Tiamat. 204
• Sent Servants from headquarters through Spiritron transfer to reinforce Gudako’s force on the Sea of Life. 204
• Enabled Ereshkigal’s installation into a Servant Spirit Base through a ritual combining her spear, the Uruk Great Cup, and Chaldea’s system. 312

Chaldeas and Computational Infrastructure

Chaldeas is distinct from Chaldea itself: it is the organization’s pseudo-Earth environmental model and one of its most important Mystic Codes.

• Animsphere’s Chaldeas Prototype Unit 1 was created in 1990 and could magnify projections of locations on Earth before emitting a beam toward the sky. 31
• Its construction requires the magecraft reproduction of Earth’s soul and the virtual operation of another Earth’s data one hundred years in the future. 168
• The original Antarctic facility retained a Chaldeas unit sealed in eternal ice after the whitening of Earth. 275
• The Animsphere drilling platform contains an old-model Phenomenon Record Computer, Laplace, and a basic Mana Furnace capable of converting various forms of energy into Magical Energy. 395

Spiritron Transfer and Communications

• Chaldea uses Spiritron transmission, teleportation, and Spirit Base Projection to support field teams from remote facilities. 175 204
• Mash’s shield can project communications with Roman and Da Vinci, allowing the group to coordinate from an embassy in Uruk. 174
• Gudako serves as a transfer point for Magical Energy, instinctively distributing incoming power to contracted Servants in near-optimal proportions. 251

Vehicles and Bases

• Chaldean chariot — A heavily armed mobile command vehicle modified by Da Vinci. Its extensive weapons systems strain its Mana Furnace and reduce available room for supplies and submersion power. 337 338
• Nautilus / Imaginary Submarine — Chaldea’s principal submarine, capable of Imaginary Number submersion. It was seized by Zeus, then reclaimed and returned to Chaldea’s control. 381 403
• Golden Hind — A warship used alongside the Nautilus during the Sea of Life campaign; it escaped missile bombardment with severe losses. 421 393
• Animsphere drilling platform — Chaldea’s original birthplace and later prospective replacement base after the loss of the Wandering Sea. 394 412

Relationships

• Sakura Matou — An intermittent ally and ideological enemy. Chaldea seeks to preserve Pan-Human History, while Sakura pursues a different world in which everyone can live happily; Sakura considers their conflict irreconcilable unless one side abandons its ideals. 194 She has nevertheless held back against Chaldea and considered preserving it as a force that could scout ahead for her. 394 419 Her feelings toward the organization remain complicated because of memories inherited from another soul. 470

• Magecraft Association — Chaldea’s principal institutional owner and political overseer. The Association ordered an investigation after the Human Order Incineration, though Sakura’s influence caused the review to become largely perfunctory. 257 258

• United Nations — Chaldea’s nominal sponsor and regulator. The UN ordered an immediate shutdown of Chaldea’s equipment and later stationed a task force outside the facility. 257 262

• Wandering Sea — Provided Chaldea with a temporary headquarters, materials, and support after the Qin campaign. Its members remained sympathetic to Chaldea’s mission but feared being turned into a frontline by association with it. 348

• Kirschtaria Wodime — A former associate of Marisbury who cooperated with Chaldea against Zeus and revealed key truths about its origins. His loyalty remained divided between Chaldea and Sakura. 369 394 423

• Alaya and the Guardians — Alaya’s Guardians identified Sakura as a threat to Human Order and joined Europa, Ibuki-douji, and Chaldea in a covenant against her. 423

• Great Qin — A hostile power that surrounded Chaldea in the Qin Lostbelt, acquired portions of its technology, and later sought its Imaginary Number Observer technology in Pan-Human History. 337 342 474
