Background / History

Zeus was one of Kronos's children, but escaped being fully “devoured” when Rhea relocated his Intelligent AI after Kronos fused Zeus's Mecha Core into his own body. Left with only a frail Human Form, Zeus fled rather than seek revenge and was rescued from drowning by Fujimaru Kyoya. He had run away to avoid marrying Metis, his childhood companion and a goddess he considered stronger and wiser than himself. 150

Kyoya brought Zeus to his human settlement and became his mentor. While Zeus initially appeared cowardly, indolent, and preoccupied with food, sleep, and sex, he learned rapidly under Kyoya's guidance. Kyoya recognized that Zeus's relationships with goddesses could be used to form an alliance against Kronos, and Zeus recruited Themis, Mnemosyne, Metis, Eurynome, Leto, and Asteria to their side. 150 151

When Kronos prepared to publicly execute humans on Mount Olympus, Zeus administered Kyoya's Elixir to his father despite his fear of thunder and death. The attack destabilized Kronos and triggered the release of the Machine Gods he had absorbed. 152

Zeus refused the option of fleeing Greece, choosing instead to protect Kyoya and the humans under his care. He accepted Kyoya's warning that any future tyranny of his own would lead to his children overthrowing him. 153

In Tartarus, Zeus risked his Human Form to infiltrate Uranus and disconnect the former god-king's weapons from his main body. He later aided Kyoya against Kronos by merging consciousnesses with him, using the Insight Eye to perceive flaws in Kronos's time-stop ability, and invading Kronos's body to expel the foreign Machine God Cores within it. 154 157

After Kronos's defeat, Zeus opposed executing him and supported his imprisonment in Tartarus, hoping to end the cycle of hatred within his generation. Although reluctant to rule, Zeus was selected as King of Gods because of his decisive role in the rebellion and the political support he had amassed. 157 158

A century into his reign, Zeus struggled to balance his sympathy for humanity with his obligations to the gods. He and Kyoya staged a prophecy that Zeus would be overthrown by his strongest child, using the resulting panic to expose disloyal gods. Zeus then concealed Metis within himself until she was reborn as Athena, and he worked with Kyoya to create demigod heroes whose trials would advance human civilization. 158 159

Zeus later planned for Roman civilization to overwrite Greek civilization, allowing Greek culture to endure while forcing the gods to adapt to humanity's growing strength. By the time Kyoya reappeared as Jesus, Zeus was also King of Gods in Rome under the name Jupiter, though he preferred to be called Zeus. 159 165

Personality

Zeus initially presents himself as a carefree, cowardly young man who fears death, thunder, and responsibilities. He is openly lecherous, quickly forms intimate relationships with several women in Kyoya's village, and is highly susceptible to distractions involving comfort or pleasure. 150 151

Beneath this behavior, Zeus values life and understands the helplessness of being weak. He cannot easily accept human sacrifices, remembers Kyoya's belief that fear cannot sustain a ruler, and refuses to abandon humans even when escape would be safer. 151 153

As King of Gods, Zeus becomes more strategic and burdened by responsibility. He is willing to manipulate the pantheon through staged prophecies and political schemes, but he seeks to prevent the succession violence that defined Kronos and Uranus. 157 159
