"Another World, Here I Come."
That day, a Griffin crossed half the forest, carrying a human as it flew continuously through the skies above the woods.
No foolish monsters came to bother them along the way.
Most monsters could not fly, while those that could seemed afraid to provoke a high-level monster like a Griffin. Shien thus passed through half the forest without obstruction, traveling more efficiently than he had in the previous ten days combined.
This delighted Shien more and more, and made him feel increasingly hopeful about escaping, filling him with anticipation.
Of course, Shien did not go back on his word. He continuously poured magic into the Griffin beneath him, making it fly faster and cry out more contentedly.
Clearly, this move had completely won over the Griffin's heart.
This gave Shien the chance to take a look at the effects of the Taming skill.
Taming · Active skill. · Uses magic in a specific manner to tame monsters. The higher the level, the higher the level of monsters that can be tamed, and the more capable it is of taming rare, powerful monsters.
One look was enough to tell how useful this skill was.
So Shien worked even harder to pour magic into the Griffin, and the Griffin flew even harder in return.
Naturally, this consumed a great deal of Shien's magic.
However, thanks to the Magic Guidance skill, Shien possessed no small amount of magic.
If Shien's magic in his normal state was "one hundred," then after being enhanced by the effects of Magic Guidance, it became "one thousand," an increase of no less than tenfold.
And that was only when Magic Guidance was at level one.
Thus, after Shien maxed out Magic Guidance, his magic became countless times greater than before. It would also increase more and more as his level rose, allowing him to use Limit Break so freely.
Under such circumstances, coupled with the effects of Magic Recovery, Shien's magic would immediately recover at the fastest possible rate as it was consumed. Especially after maxing it out, almost all the magic Shien spent would be fully restored within a second. It was practically cheating.
Because of this, Shien did not need to worry about running out of magic at all. Even while constantly expending such vast amounts of it, his magic remained full, as though he had never used any.
Since that was the case, Shien could keep pouring magic into the Griffin to tame it and have it carry him through the air.
After flying for quite some time like this, Shien finally saw the edge of the forest.
"Have we finally made it out?"
Seeing the vast plains beyond the forest's edge, Shien became exhilarated.
"Ten days. I can finally leave this damned forest."
Shien could no longer wait to meet people other than himself and eat the food of human society, instead of dealing with monsters all day, eating monster meat, and playing at survival in the wilderness.
"Screech!"
As though it could sense Shien's thoughts, the Griffin cried out, beat its wings once more, and accelerated again.
It had to be said that the Griffin was truly fast, practically comparable to a fighter jet from Shien's previous life. That was how it could carry Shien across a forest whose end he had failed to reach even after ten days.
"They say Griffins have an instinct for predicting the weather and can fly in any conditions. In some myths and legends, they're even mounts of the gods. They really are something else."
Shien offered his praise, and the Griffin cried out proudly before flying even faster.
At a speed utterly incomparable to before, Shien continued on his way. Half a minute later, he left the forest and entered the vast plains.
After entering the plains, Shien gradually began to see people.
They were travelers making their way along roads that appeared to have been artificially carved out.
Some rode in carriages, while others rode horses. They seemed to be merchants and the like, with some even appearing to be soldiers or knights.
In some corners of the plains, Shien could also vaguely see several ranches and farmhouses.
However, the Griffin's appearance seemed to cause a small commotion. The people below appeared to panic, making uneasy movements. Some soldiers and knights even prepared to draw their bows and nock arrows, guarding against a sudden attack from the Griffin.
They probably had not noticed that there was a person on the Griffin's back.
Shien somewhat wanted to go down and speak with them.
But appearing with a monster like this might invite unnecessary hostility.
"I wonder how people in this world view monsters. Better to be cautious."
If he was attacked for traveling with a monster, it would not be worth the trouble.
"I should head to a town first."
Shien suppressed his urge to land and made that decision instead.
Fortunately, a town soon appeared before him.
It was a town of fairly considerable size.
Tall walls surrounded its outskirts, with many figures moving atop them. They were likely soldiers or knights patrolling and standing guard.
"Alright, let's land nearby."
Shien made the decision immediately.
Otherwise, once they noticed a monster approaching, the people on the walls would certainly attack at once and refuse to let it enter the town.
"Screech!"
The Griffin let out a high cry and descended obediently.
Before long, it arrived in an uninhabited stretch of countryside, allowing Shien to jump down from its back.
"Thanks for your hard work." Shien patted the Griffin's head and said softly, "Alright, go back now."
Yet upon hearing that, the Griffin did not obey. Instead, it kept crying at Shien.
"What? Do you still want more?"
Shien was slightly startled, then laughed.
"That's a shame. I need to enter a human town next, so I can't take you with me or let you keep enjoying it. You should go back."
Shien spoke to the Griffin like that.
Whether the Griffin understood him or not, it cried at him several more times. Then it stared fixedly at Shien for a while, seeming somewhat dissatisfied. Only after a long time did it let out a cry, flap its wings, and fly into the sky.
The Griffin circled above Shien for quite a while before releasing a clear, resounding cry and flying away.
Shien watched the Griffin leave. Only after its figure had completely vanished beyond the horizon did he turn around and look toward the town some distance away.
"Another World, here I come."
After leaving those words behind, Shien finally started walking, seeming unable to wait as he headed toward the town.
