"Uh..."

At that moment, Shien's expression stiffened, and he was at a loss for words.

For Shien, someone from Another World, the girl's words were undoubtedly quite arrogant.

If this had been his previous life, no one would have found it strange to see her as a pretentious show-off.

Unfortunately, this was Another World, a world of swords and magic. Gods existed here, as did Demon Lords, nobles, and royalty. There were even races besides humans. In this world, such a statement might not have meant much.

But that also meant one thing.

The girl before him was either an arrogant and ignorant person, or a genuine young lady from an extraordinary background.

And whichever it was, Shien did not want to get involved with her.

Otherwise, judging by the usual course of events, all sorts of trouble would surely follow.

So, Shien made a very decisive choice.

"Then I truly apologize. Please forgive my ignorant question. I'll take my leave now."

With those words, Shien lowered his head as though he were truly humble, then greased his heels and ran off at top speed.

The girl froze.

Clearly, she had never expected Shien to act like that.

By the time she came to her senses, Shien had already vanished into the crowd, leaving not even a trace of his figure behind.

The girl stared blankly in the direction Shien had disappeared for several seconds before letting out a soft laugh.

Her laughter was as clear and pleasant as silver bells.

Such a sight would have been enough to make everyone around her turn their heads, even become infatuated and intoxicated.

Yet the people nearby seemed utterly unaware that such a stunningly beautiful girl stood beside them, walking past as though no one were there.

"Milady."

Just as the girl stopped laughing, a voice devoid of all emotion and intonation rang out.

At some point, someone had parted the crowd and approached the girl.

If Shien had still been here, he would certainly have been surprised.

Because the person who came through the crowd looked exactly like the girl, as if they had been cast from the same mold. She was like the girl's twin sister: the same height, figure, hair color, and eye color.

The difference was that this girl wore no expression at all, with not the slightest emotion showing on her face. She was also not dressed in a gown, but in a maid's uniform.

If the girl was a young lady taking a stroll through the streets on a whim, then this maid was a capable and dependable attendant.

"You're here, Lasha."

The girl looked at the maid who resembled her so closely they could have been sisters and gave her a warm, delighted smile.

"Yes. I have bought what you requested, milady."

The maid called Lasha replied in an indifferent tone. She held a bag in her arms, and the aroma wafting from within made it clear that it was filled with delicious food.

It was easy to imagine that Lasha had been sent by the girl to buy something tasty.

However, seeing the girl's expression of happiness and delight, Lasha was somewhat puzzled.

"You seem to be in a very good mood, Lady Laisha."

Lasha saw right through the girl's feelings.

The girl—Laisha—did not seem inclined to hide them either.

"Don't mind it. I merely met an interesting adventurer." Laisha appeared to still be thinking about what had just happened. Smiling happily, she said, "He wasn't afraid or awed, nor did he know who I was. He simply saw that I hadn't given my name and acted as though he were afraid of running into trouble, then fled in a panic. It's the first time I've met someone like that."

Hearing that, Lasha did not ask any further questions.

Though she did not know what had happened, she had long grown used to Laisha doing something on a whim.

After all, the young lady Lasha served, who was like a twin sister to her, was someone so carefree that she loved doing all sorts of things on sudden impulses.

This time must have been the same, with her doing something on a whim.

"It's been a long time since I've seen you this happy, milady."

Lasha honestly voiced her thoughts.

"Now that you mention it..." Laisha slightly reined in her smile and spoke with a hint of nostalgia. "How long has it been since I last laughed this happily?"

Even Laisha could no longer remember.

But she did not continue thinking about it, quickly returning to a relaxed expression.

"By the way..."

Laisha looked once more in the direction Shien had gone, her eyes flickering slightly.

"That adventurer's magic power seemed somewhat unusual. And there appeared to be a very familiar power inside the bundle he carried. It wasn't my imagination, was it?"

Laisha became rather thoughtful.

The reason she had spoken to Shien was not merely because she had heard his words and acted on a whim, but also because of this.

Having run some distance while mixed in with the crowd, Shien let out a sigh of relief.

His own troubles had yet to be resolved. He did not want to get dragged into new ones.

"I should find somewhere to rest first and enjoy my first night in human society in Another World."

No longer wanting to think about troublesome matters, Shien made that decision.

After ten days of living like a savage, he truly wanted to improve his quality of life.

As for everything else—

It can wait until later.

Thus, Shien began wandering through the town.
