Ever since dreaming of Aperture Science's Portal Gun, Kraft had gone a long time without dreaming of any useful black technology.
It wasn't that he hadn't dreamed of anything he could replicate. Rather, some of the technology in his dreams wasn't much different from what he already had. Although the theories and manufacturing methods were completely different, the functions were more or less the same, so Kraft hadn't bothered replicating them.
Then, shortly after returning from the Pym Technologies product launch, Kraft suddenly dreamed of old Rick Sanchez for the first time in ages... Well, he probably couldn't call him old this time, because the Rick Sanchez in his dream was still a young man.
But Kraft still remembered how he had used Rick's Cucumber Potion to resolve the problem between Bruce Banner and Hulk... Though Hulk didn't seem particularly grateful.
So once Kraft discovered that Rick was the star of this dream, even a young version of him, he grew incredibly excited, eagerly waiting to see what sort of black technology Rick would pull out this time.
Then Kraft watched young Rick cobble together a Portal Gun shaped like a fluorescent tube. In Rick's tests, the gun could only teleport things short distances, and everything sent back came back ruined.
"Uh..."
Kraft was sorely disappointed. Wasn't the gap between young Rick and old Rick a little too big? Under normal circumstances, anyone who could build equipment like that was already impressive, but it was utterly useless to Kraft.
Yet the dream didn't end there. Before long, young Rick improved the Portal Gun in his hands. Not only did he shrink it from rifle-sized to pistol-sized and ensure that teleported objects remained intact, he even made it capable of long-distance spatial teleportation and travel between parallel worlds.
*Hey, isn't that
