Background

Zhang Tie encountered Zhao Daosheng as a youth with exceptional resolve and took him as a disciple after healing his parents. Zhang named him Zhao Daosheng and transmitted Witchcraft and the Nine Revolutions Undying Body to him, while warning that this world’s scarce spiritual energy required him to cultivate through demon beast essence blood. Zhang initially intended to guide him for only three years before sending him out on his own. 479

Daosheng’s Body Refining aptitude immediately surpassed Zhang Tie’s expectations. Though his apparent Body Refining aptitude was only Yellow-grade, he entered the Aperture Opening Realm in little over half a year. Zhang Tie later identified the source of this abnormal talent as the Primordial Saint Body. 479 656

Personality

Daosheng is respectful, earnest, and intensely eager to prove useful to Zhang Tie. He initially mistakes his master’s concern over his rapid advancement for disappointment in his own effort, leading him to resolve to cultivate even harder. 479

His early compassion and inexperience are tempered by Zhang Tie’s harsh lessons about survival. After witnessing cultivators attempt to use him and Zhang Tie as bait for a demon beast, he accepts his master’s warning that enemies must either be eliminated completely or endured when one lacks the strength to act. 480 481

Despite his loyalty, Daosheng can be impulsive and overconfident. He recklessly left the imperial palace to face Heavenly Tribulation alone, later requiring Zhang Tie’s rescue from an Ice Spirit and a tree demon’s trap. His master also considers him excessively talkative. 491 492 656

Zhang’s lessons force him to confront the danger of trusting strangers blindly and the need for decisiveness against enemies. 479 480 481

Vermillion Bird True Fire Crisis

Daosheng’s soul partially merges with the Vermillion Bird True Fire Seed, placing him in mortal danger. Zhang Tie destroys the hidden remnant soul within the flame and sustains Daosheng’s vitality for over three years until the fusion stabilizes. 485

After awakening, Daosheng learns that Zhang Tie remained at his side throughout his coma. His Sea of Consciousness now contains the Vermillion Bird True Fire and its phantom manifestation, while the fire also eliminates the lingering beast wills that had destabilized his cultivation. 487 488

Pursuit of Divine Strength

Daosheng hunts Martial Ancestor-level demon beasts with Zhang Tie to acquire essence blood for his next breakthrough. He approaches the Divine Strength Realm, but the scarcity of suitable prey and the danger of attracting Heavenly Tribulation prevent an immediate advancement. 487 488

Rebellious Tribulation and Rescue

While Zhang Tie is in an eighty-year seclusion, Daosheng leaves the imperial palace and triggers a prolonged Heavenly Tribulation in the Ningdu Mountain Forest. Zhang Tie finds him badly injured beneath a cold pond, where an Ice Spirit and tree demon are draining his Blood Essence. 491 492

After rescuing him, Zhang Tie criticizes Daosheng’s unstable state of mind and orders him to remain within a hundred miles of the recovery site for ten years. 492

Spirit Realm Flight

After leaving their original world, Daosheng eventually travels with Zhang Tie’s Nascent Soul clone. They are pursued by the Sea King Clan until Zhang Tie reunites with them, at which point Daosheng’s Primordial Saint Body and Hegemon Body Realm cultivation are revealed. 656
