Early protection and body cultivation

The pearl first reveals itself when Zhang Tie’s attempt to absorb Grade 1 mid-grade spirit beast blood leaves his body swollen and cracked. It repairs the damage, helps him refine the blood, and becomes the treasure Zhang Tie names the Undying Pearl. 20

Zhang Tie later discovers that it can make the direct absorption of unpurified spirit beast blood viable: it protects his meridians, accelerates the refinement of violent energy, and expels the resulting impurities. This allows him to bypass the lightning-tempering purification process normally required by the Purple Lightning Blood Devouring Art. 72 77
