Background

Jiraiya is Minato Namikaze's former teacher and one of the Sannin. He trained in Sage Chakra at Mount Myōboku, the sacred land of the summoning toads, and bears the title of Toad Sage. 4

After Orochimaru left Konoha, Jiraiya departed to pursue him. His purpose later shifted toward peeping at women bathing and creating R-rated comics. 105

While peeping at a women’s hot spring, Jiraiya is called a “perverted uncle” by Xuan Ye. The insult provokes a battle in which Jiraiya displays Water Dragon Bullet, superior speed, and physical power before revealing his identity. 205 206

Tsunade's letter confirms that Xuan Ye was sent to him for ninjutsu instruction. Jiraiya agrees to take him on after receiving several million ryo from his prospective student. 207

Ninjutsu Training

Jiraiya tests Xuan Ye by teaching him the A-rank Rasengan. Xuan Ye forms the technique on his first attempt and gains workable control in roughly twenty to thirty minutes, astonishing his teacher. 211 212
