Background / History

Tsunade formed a summoning contract with Lady Katsuyu of Shikkotsu Forest, one of the three legendary sacred lands capable of supporting Sage Chakra training 4.

She eventually left Konoha after repeated personal losses: her younger brother Nawaki Senju died in war, the person she loved died in similar circumstances, and the deaths of Senju clan members and Sakumo Hatake left her deeply disillusioned with the village 105.

While traveling with Shizune, Tsunade develops a destructive gambling habit. At a casino, she wagers their last remaining silver despite Shizune's attempts to stop her, then loses it all 169.

As a mentor, she is demanding, blunt, and willing to push Xuan Ye beyond exhaustion. She sets extreme physical drills, sparring sessions, Chakra depletion exercises, and forest runs, then uses Medical Ninjutsu when he can no longer continue 183 188. She later observes Xuan Ye's improbable gambling streak and becomes suspicious of his method 170. When several gamblers harass her after losing money, she prepares to confront them 176.

Xuan Ye's Training

When Xuan Ye asks Tsunade to make him stronger, she accepts but warns him that her training will require exceptional willpower 180. She first tests him in combat, effortlessly defeating him and demonstrating the enormous gap between them 180 181.

Her regimen includes twenty thousand push-ups, Chakra-draining Ninjutsu practice, endurance runs, Monster Strength cultivation, Medical Chakra training, and repeated Taijutsu sparring 183 185 188.
