Nature and Properties

Soul Power originates from living beings themselves. Its essence is life: it merges with flesh, blood, bones, roots, and internal organs, granting vitality and allowing a being to think and survive. It is stored throughout the body rather than confined to a single reservoir 2 5.

Its primary effect is to increase vitality. This reinforces the body, nourishes the soul in return, and enhances physical qualities such as speed, explosive power, resistance to damage, and self-healing 2 5.

Lin Manshan's own soul and the residual presence of Ni Tian Er Xing initially exceed what his human body can bear. This imbalance causes muddled consciousness, slow reactions, and recurring headaches; increasing his body's capacity or converting the surplus through Soul Burning can resolve the problem 2.

Distinction from Spirit Master Cultivation Energy

Cultivation

Soul Burning converts excess soul matter into usable Soul Power while preserving the Soul Origin. Because Soul Power is tied to life, its amount must remain within what the body can withstand; excessive output can be dangerous even when it grants overwhelming strength 2 6.

Lin Manshan finds Soul Power difficult to accumulate in a human body. Early in his training, he judges that even reaching the Breaking Extremes realm of control would leave him with too little energy for sustained expenditure, leading him to favor constant low-level bodily enhancement except in life-threatening situations 6.

• A stronger body can contain more Soul Power and endure greater enhancement 2 6.
• Soul Power can improve Lin Manshan's capacity to absorb Soul Rings beyond his nominal level by strengthening his body beforehand 5.
• Completing Destiny Artifact Infusion can temporarily reduce bodily reinforcement because much of the available Soul Power is transferred into the Life Weapon 24.

Bodily Reinforcement

Soul Power enhances the user's fundamental physical capabilities by merging with life itself.

• Improves speed, explosive force, durability, and recovery 2.
• Protects and strengthens the body while also nourishing the soul 2.
• At the Activation Stage, stimulates all bodily functions as though the user has been injected with adrenaline 6.
• With sufficient reserves and a body capable of bearing the strain, an enhanced user can overwhelm an opponent at the Breaking Extremes level through sheer force 6.

Soul Burning

Soul Burning is the Nether Race method for converting surplus soul matter into Soul Power.

• Does not damage the Soul Origin during conversion 2.
• Allows excess soul matter to be removed instead of overburdening the body 2.
• Forms the basis for resolving the consequences of Lin Manshan's unusually powerful soul 2.

Life Weapon and Soul Infusion

A weapon infused with the user's soul becomes a bound Life Weapon. This process is called Destiny Artifact Infusion or Soul Infusion 2 5.

• A Life Weapon can grow by feeding on Soul Power 5.
• Greater mastery and reserves allow the weapon to display more combat strength and transformations 5.
• Possible transformations include extending a weapon into a whip-like form, coiling it around targets, or enlarging it to immense size 5.
• Lin Manshan completes the first stage of Destiny Artifact Infusion by channeling most of his stored Soul Power into his Martial Soul 24.

Spirit Communication Technique

A Netherworld Technique activated through Soul Power.

• The user taps the Yintang Acupoint to let another person experience the user's past from a third-person perspective 6.
• Ni Tian Er Xing used a superior form of the technique to pass his memories to Lin Manshan 6.
• Lin Manshan later uses Soul Power to perform the technique on Shui Bing'er and Shui Yue'er 53.

Reincarnation Technique

A Netherworld Technique that transfers Soul Power between individuals.

• Soul Power may be transferred voluntarily and withdrawn voluntarily 6.
• Lin Manshan sends Soul Power into the sleeping Tang San as green, flame-like energy, intending to reclaim it later 59.

Alchemy Technique

A Soul Power-based technique created by the battle-oriented Nether Race to speed recovery after combat.

• Stimulates and refines medicinal effects to promote absorption 6.
• Allows medicinal materials to be identified by wrapping them in Soul Power and sensing their properties rather than inspecting or tasting them 6.

Soul Crossing Technique

A technique that separates the user's soul and sends it into hell to guide a deceased soul back into its body.

• The deceased must not have been dead for too long 6.
• The body must remain intact 6.
• A user possessing the Nether Race Physique can enter in the flesh; Ni Tian Er Xing previously used this method to save Bai Cai 6.

History

Ni Tian Er Xing's residual consciousness identifies Lin Manshan's Firewood Chopper as a weapon that shares part of Lin's soul and is merging with an unknown power. He describes it as a Life Weapon that has remained primitive because Lin has not yet mastered Soul Burning or Soul Infusion 2.

Ni Tian Er Xing explains that his own Soul Power was passed on before his death. His remaining consciousness is only a fragment left after his soul was washed away by the Nether River, carrying memories but lacking the ability to harm Lin Manshan 2.

After receiving Ni Tian Er Xing's memories, Lin Manshan begins studying and cultivating Soul Power alongside conventional Spirit Master cultivation. He recognizes its value as a means of strengthening his body, empowering his blade, and compensating for his low Innate Soul Power 5 6.
