Fang Yantian was an Ancient Demon active roughly one million years ago, predating the era of Immortal Venerable Tianhuo and the last Myriad Spirits War by an immense margin 510. In his early years, he obtained a fragment of the Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Pagoda, forged it into the Soul Gathering Tower, and used it to rise rapidly to the Grand Unity Supreme Realm 600.

He was once the Sect Master Supreme of the Western Extreme Demon Palace and became infamous across the Myriad Worlds. Rumors describe a path to ascension built on the deaths of countless cultivators, with the Soul Gathering Tower becoming a nightmare to immortals and gods alike 577 617.

Fang Yantian's divine body was destroyed after he was betrayed by Mo Ke Wu, his eldest disciple, leaving him as a divine soul lingering within the Body Cultivation Great Dao. Mo Ke Wu exposed his weakness to Fang Yantian's enemies; Fang Yantian himself is stated to be unaware of that betrayal 537.
