Cyclops Scott, who was teaching at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters at the time, boarded the ship with Schiller and was responsible for escorting him.
When he saw the enormous words flashing across the star, Scott looked even more helpless than Schiller. He shook his head and said, "From what I know of Magneto, this probably isn't a welcome. It's more like a show of force. He's always been like this."
Among all Mutants, Scott had quite a good temper. Though he had been somewhat impulsive in his youth, he had matured considerably by now. He shook his head helplessly and said:
"Erik has been our old rival for a long time. He must know the X-Men would send someone to escort you here. He just wants to get one over on us. It's always been this way."
Standing before the porthole, Schiller looked at the words and smiled. "Is that so? But I rather like this welcoming ceremony. Aside from being a little startling at first, it's quite effective, isn't it?"
Scott widened his eyes slightly, then said with some admiration, "Doctor, you really have such a good temper. You're a lot like our professor. You're both easygoing people, but Magneto isn't like that."
"Don't say that, Scott." Schiller shook his head. "We shouldn't form overly rigid stereotypes about someone based on how he behaved in the past. Every second could be a crucial moment in the transformation of a person's character."
To his surprise, Scott actually gave it serious thought. "You're right, Doctor. I'm a teacher now too. Those children could encounter something at any moment that changes their lives. If I keep viewing them through the lens of the past, I might really push them onto the very path those stereotypes predict..."
