Schiller walked into the classroom and closed the door behind him. At the sight of him, Dick struggled twice, making muffled "mmph, mmph" sounds through the tape over his mouth, as though he wanted to say something to Schiller. But Schiller could not understand him at all.

"This impostor disguised himself as me to pick Dick up from school," Batman on the left said.

"You kidnapped Dick and tried to disguise yourself as me to confuse everyone," Batman on the right said sternly to the other Batman.

The two Batmen were identical not only in appearance, build, and equipment, but even in their voices, manner of speaking, and expressions.

When both Batmen turned their eyes toward Schiller, his head began to ache. He was truly afraid the two of them would say in unison, "I need to go back and write my thesis."

Ordinarily, when the real Batman encountered an impostor, he would not waste this much breath. He would simply attack, because he did not believe anyone in the world could surpass him while impersonating him.

But Dick was in the room. The fake Batman was certain that would make the real Batman wary. The real Batman would surely fear that, if he attacked directly, the other man might lash out desperately and hurt Dick by any means necessary.

Dick was tied up, unable even to dodge. He was young and fragile; if he suffered serious harm, Batman might regret it for the rest of his life.

Put simply, this was the fake Batman's trap. He was using Dick to force the real Batman into playing a game of who was real and who was fake, preventing him from breaking the rules with violence and forcing him to rely on someone else's judgment.

The fake Batman simply had not
