Gotham had another rainy night, but perhaps because of the brief sunshine during the day, the rain was no longer so cold. Instead, it became somewhat lingering, like the languid notes of a love song, falling upon the sturdy leaves of plants like a gentle caress.
The lights were on in Wayne Manor. Damian, in pajamas, rubbed his eyes, held a building block in one hand, and opened his door. He walked out, knocked on the neighboring door, and said, "Aisha, Aisha, why did you leave your toy in my room again? Take it away now, or I'm throwing it out."
The sound of rapid footsteps came from inside. Aisha, also in pajamas and wearing a nightcap, opened the door. Seeing the block in Damian's hand, she froze for a moment before saying, "Wah wah! It's not mine!"
"Ah, impossible. Who else plays with blocks besides you?"
Aisha opened the door and went back inside, dragging a whole box of blocks out from under her desk. Damian entered her room, and Aisha pointed at the box and said, "Look, none of the blocks are missing!"
Damian sat on the floor in confusion and began rummaging through the box. Suddenly, his hand touched something icy, completely different from the texture of plastic building blocks.
He strained his arm and reached deeper, successfully finding a black diamond at the bottom of the box.
Damian picked up the diamond and looked again at the dark blue block in his hand. The two really did look somewhat alike. Considering Thomas had said Aisha's eyesight was not very good, Damian could understand the mistake.
"Where did you get this?" Damian asked suspiciously as he examined the black diamond.
"On the balcony." Aisha turned and pointed behind her curtains.
