As everyone knew, there was a term in idol fandoms called "Stalker Fans." Simply put, they were fans who completely disregarded personal boundaries and crazily invaded the private lives of the idols they followed, including but not limited to tailing their cars and taking photos, deliberately booking the same hotel to manufacture chance encounters, or even spying on their rooms from a building across the street with high-powered binoculars.

Both an idol's ordinary fans and the idol themself deeply hated such fans. Some idols even made their disgust abundantly clear, yet these people still took endless pleasure in it.

This was actually a common psychological problem, one that could be summed up in simple terms as Attention Sickness. Such people excessively craved attention from others. As long as the other person paid attention to them, whether with affection or disgust, they imagined it meant they were special, further convincing themselves that their stalking and harassment were justified.

Many stalkers suffered from similar symptoms. In their eyes, they were not harassing anyone. Instead, they believed the victim's expressed disgust meant the victim had noticed the shining qualities within them and was therefore paying attention to them. Even if the other person did not understand for now, as long as they paid attention, it meant the stalker was superior to everyone else.

As the saying went, the shameless were invincible. Most people with this kind of Attention Sickness were difficult to drive away. To some extent, Joker was one of them, and one of the more severely afflicted at that. As long as Batman paid attention to him, neither his own life nor anyone else's mattered.
