Eddie was now standing at a disaster site that looked like the aftermath of an alien spaceship crash.

Then again, it really was not much different from an alien spaceship crash. Compared to believing that floors sixty through eighty-nine of Stark Tower had grown legs and run over here, Eddie would rather believe aliens had come to save humanity.

This was what had happened: Eddie had decided to head to New York Central Park, but first he needed transportation. A car would have been the best choice, but its noise would likely attract a huge horde of zombies, and it might not even outrun them once it entered the city. Eddie painfully gave up on four wheels and settled for two.

Near the outer wall by the emergency department entrance, not far from the Inpatient Department, Eddie found a bicycle. Many wealthy suburban residents enjoyed road cycling. The bike Eddie found was not only in perfect condition but also well-equipped—at least good enough to ride all the way into the city.

The advantage of spawning in the suburbs was that there were fewer people and fewer zombies. The public hospital had already been relatively crowded, but after leaving it, Eddie saw almost no one on the road. After cycling two or three miles, he had spotted only vague zombie silhouettes on the distant horizon.

Just as Eddie relaxed slightly, he watched a huge unidentified flying object whoosh over his head and crash into the ground with a deafening bang.

The violent explosion blasted him away. Fortunately, there was park grass nearby, and the soil softened some of the impact, but Eddie was still left dizzy and disoriented.

When he opened his eyes, a massive Stark Industries logo was embedded in the ground.
