Jason jolted awake in fright, but his head was still groggy. Being forcibly awakened had left him with a splitting headache. He could sense some clues surfacing in his mind, but he simply could not focus enough to examine them.

Jason had not been this seriously ill in a long time. Back when he was Robin, he had always been very healthy. A chill or cold usually went away after one night's rest. In the years afterward, most of his physical discomforts had been injuries.

Jason had a high tolerance for pain, which made him even more afraid of this feeling of being uncomfortable everywhere without being able to say exactly where it hurt. More draining than the headache was the dizziness and pain in his sacroiliac joints. What he could not bear most was the weakness in his muscles. This all-encompassing frailty was no less tormenting than being beaten black and blue.

Jason felt his throat swelling at a visible rate. Within just a few minutes, he could no longer speak. His nose was completely blocked, his eyes ached with pressure, and his eyeballs felt as if they were about to roll out of their sockets.

Ben Parker and Aunt May immediately realized that he had a severe cold. A cold might seem like a minor illness, but when it got truly serious, it could be just as deadly.
