Jason ate two large muffins, not because they were particularly good—his nose was stuffed and his throat hurt, so he could not taste anything right now. Nothing tasted good, and he was not actually very hungry. Reason simply told him that he needed to eat more to replenish his strength so he could recover faster.
He also ate a plate of ham, a freshly baked meat pie, two fried eggs, and a large glass of milk. Only when his body told him he was completely full did he shift around and sit properly on the sofa, hoping the food would digest faster.
Luckily, it was not too late yet. Uncle Ben had still driven out to pick up a Christmas tree, while Spider-Man helped his aunt with the big cleanup. They would have to buy the Christmas decorations and ingredients tomorrow.
Jason soon grew sleepy while leaning against the sofa. The flickering television light played over his face as the news report sounded in his ears. Jason sensed a dark figure blocking the television. He cracked his eyes open and saw Spider-Man holding a broom in one hand and resting the other on his hip as he watched the news intently.
Spider-Man plopped down beside Jason and sighed. "This killer is awful. He specifically targets children, and he seems to be operating around New York. Christmas is almost here. What are we supposed to do?"
