Schiller turned into a cloud of mist, while Venom instantly armed himself. The two raced through the streets of Brooklyn District, but when they caught sight of that familiar figure, he was the only one left on the street.
Schiller landed, and Eddie crashed heavily to the ground as well. Peter turned to look at them and said, "Oh, you're here."
"What happened?" Schiller asked.
This was actually very strange, Schiller thought. There were few people on Earth who could beat Peter, and even fewer who could outrun Barry. If they had encountered an enemy, shouldn't Peter have knocked him down first, then Barry brought them all back together? Why had Barry returned alone to fetch them?
"I ran into someone invisible," Peter said. "I couldn't see him, but he could attack me. It was too weird, so I called you over to see what was going on."
Eddie frowned slightly, but Schiller walked over to Peter, looked him over, and asked, "Were you wearing your suit's goggles? Did thermal imaging not work either?"
Peter shook his head. "None of the visual methods I have can see him."
"Did you try spiritual vision?"
Peter froze for a moment. "No. I forgot I could use magic."
This Peter from Schiller's universe could use magic. More precisely, he had energy in his body, the result of stealing electricity on some previous occasion. Although he had never learned how to cast spells, he could still activate spiritual vision.
"Give me your goggles." Schiller held out his hand.
Peter took out his mask and handed it to Schiller. It had originally been Stark Industries technology, though Peter had later added some functions himself. It looked like nothing more than a thin superhero mask, but it was actually a comprehensive multifunctional monitoring and analysis device.
