"An owl?" Batman muttered in confusion. The massive statue was clearly an owl, but as Superman had said, how could there be such a huge dungeon beneath a chemical plant?
"It looks rather old." Wonder Woman stared at the moss in the corner and said, "I seem to have seen similar architectural styles among the ruins of Mount Olympus. That would have been tens of thousands of years ago."
Superman abruptly jabbed Wonder Woman with his elbow. Wonder Woman coughed twice and said, "But the wear on this structure does not look that ancient. I would say it is at least several hundred years old."
Superman stood beneath the enormous owl statue, looking at its glowing eyes. "What is strange about those eyes? Is there something behind them?"
Batman had already leaped up onto the statue and stood atop its head. He saw that there seemed to be something inside the glowing, glass-bead-like eyes. Without hesitation, he pried apart the Lego bricks forming the eyes. With a clatter, a key fell out.
Superman picked up the key below. It was utterly ordinary, except the oval on the cartoonish key had been replaced with an owl design. After Batman came down, he examined the key from every angle but found nothing unusual.
Since there was a key, there had to be a door. Batman looked around and decided the answer was probably still on the owl.
Then he noticed that the owl's folded wings seemed movable. There were traces of bearing pieces at its shoulders, and as he circled around the front of the owl, he saw one claw was slightly raised.
Batman walked over and stomped on it. There was a crack as some mechanism was triggered, and Batman confidently raised his head.
Nothing happened.
