A hand covered by a red metal gauntlet yanked away the black tablecloth draped over the round table, revealing the enormous Justice League emblem. But a long crack ran through the center of it, as though an impassable gulf had long existed between the two men standing before the table.
"Hmm, I'd forgotten that was there." The black figure left behind what seemed like an easy smile, then turned and walked away, leaving the red-and-blue figure standing alone beside the table.
What the man standing before the table himself did not realize was that his gaze lingered on that emblem for several dozen seconds. During that time, there was no disgust or hatred in his eyes, only nostalgia and loneliness that seemed capable of drowning the entire room.
He looked unlike any other Superman. What he wore was not a skintight suit, but metal armor lined with soft bodysuit fabric. His chest, the crooks of his arms, and the sides of his waist were all covered in hard metal.
Most conspicuously, his neck and nape were also covered in blue metal armor that extended upward, wrapping around his jaw and half the back of his head.
It made him seem less confident and open than other Supermen, adding several degrees of vigilance and guardedness. He appeared colder, more unapproachable.
