Fortunately, he had done his homework beforehand and roughly knew how all kinds of supernatural entities harassed humans. He handled the questions with ease and did not give himself away in front of the two brothers.

For a demon on Mephisto's level, if its true form had not arrived, it would generally appear in people's dreams and keep whispering in their ears. Sometimes, they would also seal off a person's mind, leaving them unable to describe what had happened to them. The moment they mentioned the dream, their heads would throb with pain, making speech impossible.

If the true form, or even a portion of its power, had arrived, it could basically put on a performance called "Living Fire Melts the City." Everything within the space would spontaneously combust for no reason. People would hear screams from Hell, see all kinds of horrifying sights before their eyes, suffer hallucinations, and inexplicably lose emotional control. The affected area could be enormous—an entire block or even a whole city.

Those were more or less a demon's usual methods: drive people to mental collapse with hallucinations, then negotiate terms with them in their dreams. Their appearance was also usually accompanied by natural phenomena such as rising temperatures, agitated livestock, and fleeing insects.

Other Cosmic Demons had their own distinctive entrance effects as well. Some caused temperatures to plummet, turning a room into an ice cellar within seconds; some arrived with rapidly flickering light so bright people could barely open their eyes; some affected plants, some affected animals, and some could even affect inanimate objects such as buildings. There was every conceivable variety, each different from the next.
