"Hmm... there's nothing wrong with the test results." The doctor said to Clark, "This special powder in your blood will indeed affect you to some extent, but for now, antibodies are already being produced."
"Antibodies?"
"That's right. This isn't some kind of poison. It should be an element that naturally exists somewhere in the universe; you're just allergic to it. Small amounts of exposure will only make you feel unwell. It won't be fatal."
"So it doesn't have any other effects?" Clark asked. "Like strengthening my body..."
"That isn't clear yet. It may be because you haven't been exposed to it for long, or perhaps your body has already been strengthened to the limit Earth's environment can accommodate, so any further improvement won't be very noticeable. But I still recommend continuing desensitization training, in case someone uses this stuff against you."
Clark blurted out, "Who would be that cruel?"
But he quickly thought of Schiller and said, "All right, I really should get desensitized as soon as possible. What do I need to do?"
"First, I need to obtain some powder from this gem to prepare medicine or drinks. Second, you need to keep wearing the gem and acclimate to the radiation it gives off. Finally, you need to exercise more over the next few days to speed up your metabolism so your body can produce antibodies faster."
Clark nodded. "All right. I'll go running tomorrow."
"Oh, and don't go back to Metropolis yet. Once I've prepared the medicine, you may need regular injections. If you go back, it'll be difficult to send it to you."
Clark agreed. He understood that this was somewhat of a misuse of public property. After all, the gem could not really be considered his property, yet it was now being used for his desensitization
