When Clark walked into the guest room, he looked around. This was unquestionably the most luxurious room he had ever stayed in, bar none. Not even the five-star hotels he had stayed at on company-funded business trips had been this beautiful. He felt his vocabulary was somewhat lacking. All he could say was that he now truly believed the window frames in Bruce's study had come from a sixteenth-century French castle.
After seeing him to the guest room, Bruce said nothing more and turned to leave. Clark sat on the edge of the bed and unpacked, not forgetting to call his friends and family to let them know he was safe.
Clark was not terribly worried about their safety. Diana needed no looking after from him; there was no way Sky Eye could threaten her. Lois was currently in the spotlight, and Amanda would have to be brain-dead to lay a hand on such a famous reporter. Martha was the most vulnerable, but Bruce had already sent people to protect her.
So, after arriving at the manor, Clark finally relaxed and prepared to get some proper rest. After washing up, he lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling carved with exquisite patterns, unable to help sighing.
If the version of himself who had just entered Battleworld had met his future self coming back through time to tell him, "One day, you'll live in Batman's house," that younger version of him would definitely have punched him first, just to see who he was impersonating.
Things had developed far beyond anything he could have anticipated. He was actually lying in a guest room at Bruce Wayne's house, planning to get a good night's sleep. It was insane.
