"Jena! Jena! Wake up from your little lover's tender embrace right now!" Amanda's roar came through the receiver. "Building C, 256 Morson Street. Assemble there!"

After running herself ragged for a full day and night, Jena was forced to straighten up from the chair she had been leaning against to rest. The Behavioral Science office members who were copying documents gave her sympathetic looks.

"Ms. Waller is always like this." The blonde woman brought Jena a cup of coffee and said, "Are you okay? If you really can't manage it, take some leave. Brainiac won't force you to work."

Jena shook her head. "I'm not human. I don't need that much rest."

"High-intensity continuous empathy is dangerous for any Empath." The Asian colleague beside her spoke up. "Putting yourself in the killer's shoes can make you feel like you're losing your mind."

"It's actually not too bad," Jena said softly. "The person who did this wasn't one of Gotham's lunatics. The mental contamination isn't very severe. I can still handle it."

"Enough of that." Jena stood up and, unusually, put on a coat. "Morson Street sounds familiar. Does anyone know anything about it?"

"I already pulled up the files from Brainiac for you," another colleague said. "I sent them to your phone. Take a look. I think the most valuable lead is the Morsen District murder case from over a decade ago. Around fifty people were killed, injured, or went missing in a mass poisoning incident."

Jena drew in a soft breath, then shook her head. More than ten years ago was too far back. She had heard that Gotham had still been shrouded in dark clouds then. Jena could not imagine how much darker Gotham had been at that time. There had to be an even darker truth behind
