Dining
Hua Yuan waited impatiently for Luo Di to arrive at the entrance of the sushi restaurant.
"What were you looking at just now? Why didn't you come over for a while? This place is very dangerous."
"I'm wearing a sorority badge, right? I should be fine. I was just curious because it was my first time seeing a city like this."
I never imagined a city entirely composed of monsters would be like this. At least on the surface, it doesn't seem too different from Human Society, and all the monsters even maintain human-like physical forms.
"What's so surprising about this? After all, we are all human beings at our core. It's just that our thinking has developed a corner, allowing us to fully express our inner selves."
Although we possess the true Monster Main Body,
However, the human form is recognized as the most balanced, energy-efficient, and essential basic form.
To survive in a godforsaken place like this corner, without going insane or losing your way, you must at least retain some humanity, even if it's just a trace. And the human form can remind us of this at any moment.
Of course, many of the "people" here basically lack humanity; they only believe they possess it.
Enough with the chit-chat, let's eat something first~ The emergency food in the car is awful.
This sushi restaurant is one of our sorority's favorites, and I personally love it especially. Sister Yu Lu seems to have eaten here before; she's already gone in early to reserve a table. Let's follow her.
I guarantee you'll like it.
"It's not some strange meat, is it?"
Hua Yuan smiled and said, "What are you thinking about? That kind of meat is very rare and precious, and it's not usually found in restaurants."
This sushi restaurant is rare; it's close to Human Society and the flavors are incredibly authentic. The meat used is obtained through the differentiation of animal cells from a monster.
Didn't I just say that?
In a godforsaken place like this corner, even we monsters have to try to live like humans to avoid going completely insane.
Of course, there are quite a few guys who genuinely enjoy eating that kind of meat. I remember one of the "The Hateful Eight" was such an extreme pervert who liked to roam shallow areas and specifically target humans. Of course, he could also somewhat tolerate monster meat.
"The Hateful Eight?"
Luo Di recalled the time when he parted ways with Yu Ze and Yu Ze You Zhen, and the child he had spied on drawing in the passageway. Although the child looked harmless, he seemed to smell a fleshy odor.
Hua Yuan stood on tiptoe and looked around. "I wonder if that clown will follow your scent here. I'm kind of looking forward to it."
Stepping into the sushi restaurant, I was surprised to find that it used a conveyor belt buffet system.
As Luo Di entered, many diners sniffed and turned around, only to turn back when they saw the sorority badge on Luo Di's body.
Yu Lu had already reserved three seats, and she was craning her neck to select plates of sushi that were being sent out of the kitchen via conveyor belt.
Hua Yuan sat close to Yu Lu.
Luo Di sat next to Hua Yuan. Because he wasn't sandwiched between the two, a stranger was also sitting next to Luo Di.
The other person was of a large build and was wearing a strange, tight-fitting outfit, with five layers of belly clearly visible.
Moreover, the diner's face was covered with something resembling a sock, with only a small opening cut into the mouth area specifically for eating.
He's also quite picky about food.
He only selects sushi with the highest meat content, and Luo Di, a pure meat human, naturally arouses his interest as well.
Upon seeing the sorority badge on Luo Di, the man merely sniffed the aroma before returning to the sushi.
Hua Yuan's voice came from the side, "Luo Di, eat as much as you want~ You need to be completely full! The Death Game we're going to participate in later may last a long time and there will be no nutritional replenishment in between."
Don't worry about the money; as long as you win the game, it will be deducted from your share.
"Um."
Luo Di first casually grabbed a plate of the cheapest plain rice sushi.
When chewed, the rice grains have a surprisingly meaty elasticity, and when bitten, liquid oozes out. Not only does it have a slightly sweet taste, but it can even nourish the pituitary gland to some extent.
"This rice..."
"Isn't it great? The chefs here really know how to take care of their guests. The prices are a bit high, but everything is top-notch."
By the way, Luo Di, please don't go into the kitchen! They've sealed it off to avoid affecting everyone's dining experience, so don't worry about hygiene.
"Um."
Luo Di adheres to the principle of "when in Rome, do as the Romans do"; as long as the food tastes good and is harmless to the body, he doesn't care how it's made.
Gradually, he became less reserved and began to freely take sushi from the conveyor belt.
Luo Di also glanced sideways at Hua Yuan beside him. He could tell that although she was very hungry and enjoyed this delicious food that the sorority did not have, she was very restrained and ate very ladylike.
Perhaps sensing Luo Di's gaze, Hua Yuan glared at him fiercely.
As for Yu Lu over there, she ate something rather strange, even creepy.
The sushi she chose was mostly vegetarian, with the occasional squid or shrimp sushi.
She eats in a strange way, sitting upright with her neck stretched out, always keeping her body at a 90° angle to the ground.
Instead of using her hands to pick up the sushi, she sticks out her tongue from her mouth, the half-meter-long tongue landing on the plate, rolling up the sushi, and then slowly putting it back into her mouth.
Perhaps sensing Luo Di's gaze, the eyes hidden by his bangs glanced at him briefly before moving back to the food delivery conveyor belt.
And so, stacks of plates piled up in front of the three of them.
Luo Di was initially averse to meat, but as he tried it more, he found that the texture of the meat was somewhere between chicken and rabbit, and the taste was quite good.
Just as Luo Di spotted a plate of fried meat sushi that had been moved over and reached out to grab it from the edge, another greasy hand reached out and pinched the other end of the plate.
To be reasonable,
Luo Di took it first, so it should be his food.
The diners throughout the restaurant seemed to be following this rule, but the other party showed no intention of letting go.
Although Luo Di was somewhat annoyed, considering that this was his first time visiting a monster city as a human and that he had important matters to attend to later, he decided to avoid trouble.
He let go of her hand.
The large, obese man sitting next to me, whose head was covered by a sock hood, didn't start eating immediately after receiving the plate of fried meat sushi. Instead, he spoke in a disdainful tone:
"A lowly human servant, daring to sit at the table. Such perfect sushi has been ruined by the taste of your fingers left on the edge of the plate, I..."
However, the man stopped speaking before he could finish.
Because at some point, a noose had been put around his neck and tied tightly to the ceiling.
Moreover, as the hanging was secured, the person's neck was stretched completely in a short period of time, almost suffocating him.
The pituitary gland's abilities also seem to be blocked by this rope, making it unable to express a monster form.
Just as Luo Di was somewhat surprised by the sudden change in the situation,
A deep voice came from beside him; it was Hua Yuan's voice.
But unlike before, it wasn't gentle and ambiguous; instead, it was mixed with aggressive murderous intent.
"Luo Di, bow your head."
As Luo Di lowered his head...
A horizontal chop came from the Hand Blade.
Swish! The neck, stretched out from hanging, was severed. There was no splatter of blood; instead, flowers grew at the cut, preventing blood from flowing out and polluting the store.
The headless corpse lay on the ground.
These flowers continued to drain the corpse of nutrients, even the skin and bones.
In less than a minute,
The obese diner was completely drained by the flowers, leaving the ground covered in blossoms.
The shop's staff came over, but instead of pursuing the matter, they apologized to Hua Yuan and the others.
They then began collecting the flowers from the ground, turning them into floral arrangements for the shop, making the entire sushi restaurant more cozy and inviting, as if nothing had ever happened.
When Luo Di turned around, he found that the two sisters, who hadn't talked much before, had started chatting over this incident.
"Sister Yu's methods are truly amazing. Is this the effect of an invisible domain?"
"Hmm~ You're not bad either."
Hua Yuan even moved her seat away from Luo Di and pressed her body against Sister Yu. The two women's arms were pressed tightly together as they chatted about their sisterly secrets.
Luo Di shrugged, took back the fried meat sushi that the monster had rejected, and ate it with relish.
