After crossing the broad Pilgrim's Road, Duncan arrived before the gates of the temple—a colossal opening seemingly large enough for giants to pass through, narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. The doorway soared overhead, while the two doors, made of some unknown material, had long since collapsed. One lay on the ground, and the other leaned crookedly against the palace wall.
The faint sound of waves came from within the doorway, mingled with chaotic, low noises. It seemed some enormous beast was struggling to breathe and mutter in its dreams in the darkness. A slightly fishy, salty sea breeze swirled at the end of the Pilgrim's Road, carrying a chill.
"What an incredible creation..." Morris approached the palace's outer wall. One of his eye sockets deformed and receded, and a set of lenses extended from it along brass rails, carefully examining the dark green boulders that looked crude and weathered. "They fit together so perfectly... it is almost as if they originally 'grew' this way..."
"I have seen walls like these in certain dreams," Vana said, gently stroking the outer wall. "And in visions during prayer... many saints see strange high walls or piled boulders in their hallucinations. So those visions... were pointing to this..."
Lucretia stood before the enormous doorway and casually tossed a sheet of white paper into the pitch-black corridor. The moment it left her hand, the paper burst into flame, turning into a vaguely humanoid blaze that flew a short distance into the darkness.
"It is... very calm inside," the witch said hesitantly. "But my spell dissipates quickly. It feels as if some invisible force is suppressing it."
Duncan looked into the palace, then turned back to the followers who had come ashore with him. After a brief consideration, he raised a hand
