Background / History

Mei was formerly a student of Senba Academy. After her father’s imprisonment, she experienced the betrayal and treachery of adults around her, an experience that strengthened her distrust of others and her resolve to protect Kiana. 238

During the Third Honkai Eruption in Changkong City, Mei’s Herrscher personality took control. She escaped the city with Kiana and Bronya, eventually encountering Himeko’s team. Himeko accepted Mei despite her identity and promised to train her to control her power, leading Mei to become a Valkyrie at St. Freya Academy. 236

By the time Shen Gonglin awakens with amnesia, Mei is a St. Freya student caring for him alongside Kiana and Bronya. She is particularly concerned that his absorption of her electricity may also expose him to dangerous Honkai energy. 2

Mei’s fear of her Herrscher power initially leaves her hesitant and dependent on others, but losing Kiana and Shen Gonglin forces her to confront her own weakness. When Kiana is controlled by Honkai as the Herrscher of the Void, Mei awakens her own buried Herrscher power to oppose her. The Herrscher of the Void later extracts the Conquest Gem from Mei, leaving her to confront her inadequacy without it. 156 158
