Background / History

At Flender's invitation, Grandmaster arrived at Shrek Academy after the Star Dou Great Forest expedition to assume control of the students' cultivation plans. He was already Tang San's teacher and was reputedly knowledgeable about Martial Souls. However, he immediately dismissed Mu Yuan's status as the strongest genius, believing a single Martial Soul could not rival Tang San's future as a Twin Martial Soul wielder. 17

He attempted to establish authority by challenging Mu Yuan to defeat the other Shrek students under his strategy. Mu Yuan instead released Soul Power pressure that pinned the level-29 Grandmaster to the ground, publicly declaring that Grandmaster owed a Soul King proper respect. 17 Grandmaster then devised a plan intended to exploit Mu Yuan's supposed physical weakness as a Control System Soul Master, but Mu Yuan's Tree Realm Descent captured the entire team within a one-kilometer forest. 18

The defeat destroyed his standing with most of the students. He considered leaving Shrek, but Flender convinced him to remain for Tang San's sake. His subsequent heavy-stone running regimen attracted only Tang San voluntarily; Dai Mubai openly rejected it in favor of training with Zhao Wuji. 19

After Shrek's move toward Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Grandmaster instructed Tang San in Boiling Eggs Through the Urn, a Soul Power-control exercise unsuited to Tang San's Blue Silver Grass. The failed practice became widely mocked, and Xue Beng coined the nickname “Egg-Boiling Master.” 25 34 Grandmaster later left with Flender, Liu Erlong, and Tang San for Blue Tyrant Academy after Tang San's capture by Dugu Bo. 39

Following the conflict between Blue Tyrant Academy and Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Yu Luomian placed Grandmaster under house arrest to prevent further disgrace to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Tang San eventually rescued him and sought his help with the dangers of cultivating Twin Martial Souls. 44 74

Grandmaster later approached Bibi Dong in the Pope's Palace for her Twin Martial Soul cultivation method. She refused, had him expelled, and ordered him punished for insulting the Pope. By the time Tang San located him again, Grandmaster had become a scarred beggar in Spirit City. 75 79

Personality

Grandmaster is deeply concerned with authority, recognition, and the value of his own theories. His reaction to Mu Yuan's indifference and overwhelming strength led him to pursue a humiliating challenge rather than adapt his approach. 17 18

He is persistent in Tang San's service even after losing the students' respect. Flender's reminder that Tang San still needed guidance was enough to make him remain at Shrek despite wanting to flee. 19

His confidence in his theoretical knowledge often exceeds his practical judgment. He misidentified Mu Yuan's weaknesses, failed to create a workable plan against the Berserk Team with limited information, and taught Tang San an incompatible heat-based control exercise. 18 22 34

Grandmaster is recognized as a scholar of Martial Souls and was brought to Shrek specifically to guide the students' cultivation. 17
