The roar of engines from two Stormbird transports gradually echoed above the hive city, drawing the longing gazes and covetous stares of countless idle hive dwellers.
The black-and-blue metal fuselages were painted in a riot of colors by the illusory, sickly-brilliant lights below, as though symbolizing the future fate of the Night Lords.
At that moment, before the two Stormbird transports carrying two Combat Squads could descend into the hive city,
a vast flock of enormous ravens seemingly formed from pitch-black shadows suddenly rose from the shadows of the tallest building and launched an ambush against the aircraft hovering in the night sky!
In that split second, the pilot of one Stormbird transport reacted with incredible speed.
Using remarkably nimble flying techniques, he immediately evaded the terrifying impact of the shadow raven flock, then maneuvered the Stormbird into a new flight posture and rapidly dove toward the ground of the hive city!
However, the other Stormbird transport was not so fortunate. Countless shadow ravens capable of easily piercing the metal hull directly enveloped the entire transport.
