Background / History
Xiao Miao was the once-celebrated young master and rare genius of the Xiao Family. Three years before his encounter with Chu Ke, a strange poison ruined his meridians and dantian, costing him nearly all of his Qi Training cultivation. The reversal of fortune left him isolated by people who had formerly sought his favor and convinced him that his fiancée, Huang Yingying, had come to end their ancestral engagement. In anger, he sent a blood-written letter declaring that he, rather than the Huang Family, would break the engagement. 228
The engagement was not being dissolved. Huang Yingying had spent three years searching for a way to heal him, having been motivated by Xiao Miao's past accomplishments to cultivate hard enough to enter the Lan Mountain Sect herself. After learning the truth, Xiao Miao resolves to compensate her and begins seeking water-attributed treasures that could aid her cultivation. 228 231
A broken talisman worn by Xiao Miao since childhood had been planted as a future disciple-recruitment coordinate. Through it, he encounters the spirit of Chu Ke and accepts him as his master. Xiao Miao selects the dangerous Mystic Law Devil Divine Art, then successfully refines Chu Ke's inexpensive-looking medicinal prescription to restore his dantian. 227 228 229
Appearance
Before cultivating under Chu Ke, Xiao Miao is described as a handsome young man with the physique and agility retained from his martial training despite his damaged cultivation. After absorbing the Mystic Water Origin, his appearance becomes markedly more feminine. 228 238
- Shoulder-length hair with a cyan-blue tint resembling the Mystic Water Origin. 238
- Translucent, jade-like pale skin and more delicate facial features after Foundation Establishment. 238
- A higher voice following refinement of the Strange Treasure. 238
- Can become female when using the consequences of Great Dragon Weaponization; he can use spiritual power to alter his voice back to male. 239 260
- Wields a rune-marked red-tasseled spear without a tassel, formed from his own weaponized Guan Yu. 239
Personality
Xiao Miao is proud, ambitious, and intensely unwilling to accept humiliation or helplessness. Even while crippled, he insists that the broken engagement be treated as his own decision; when offered an unsafe but powerful cultivation path, he accepts its risks rather than remain weak. 228
His determination is tempered by caution and ingenuity. In the Different Flame Secret Realm, he deliberately adopts the role of a “rat,” concealing his identity, preserving apparent crime scenes to mislead later entrants, and relying on ambushes rather than direct contests against stronger cultivators. 231 232 247
He is grateful toward those who help him, particularly Chu Ke, Huang Yingying, and his father. He wants to grow strong enough to repay Chu Ke's teaching and investigate the force responsible for his master's weakened state. Despite his courage, he openly admits that he dislikes pain and prefers avoiding risks that are not necessary. 228 240 260
Abilities & Skills
Mystic Law Devil Divine Art
Xiao Miao's primary cultivation art grants him rapid growth and a strong foundation, but carries transformation-related side effects. He chose it knowing it was dangerous, though he misunderstood that its original name and implications concerned “Magical Girls.” 228 238
- Greatly improves his recovery in areas saturated with medicinal Qi. 234
- Allows him to cultivate rapidly after his dantian is restored, reaching early Foundation Establishment within roughly a week. 247
- Requires a Heaven-and-Earth Treasure for Foundation Establishment and can produce distinctive “modes” or abilities from the absorbed treasure. 229
- Transforms any pre-existing special physique into a superior Magical Girl Sacred Body suited to the art. 260
- Its side effects feminize his appearance; Great Dragon Weaponization helps him manage the art's more severe consequences. 238 248
Mystic Water Origin Body
After refining the Strange Treasure Mystic Water Origin, Xiao Miao gains a cyan-blue Spiritual Energy quality and several innate abilities. 238 255
- Mystic Water Domain — Within thirty feet, he can spend Spiritual Energy to influence temperature, enhance spells, and make his spells directly affect targets without being avoided. 255
- Mystic Water Body — His movements carry Mystic Water Origin energy that can forcibly harmonize another target's energy fluctuations. 255
- Gold Origin Water — Within his domain, he can liquefy and control metal by expending Spiritual Energy. 255
Great Dragon Weaponization
A technique supplied by Chu Ke to prevent the Mystic Law Devil Divine Art from refining Xiao Miao's own Guan Yu first. It turns Guan Yu into an independently controllable weapon magic treasure. 239
- Xiao Miao's personal divine weapon is a red-tasseled spear, later described as a halberd-spear at the Magic Tool stage. 239 256
- The spear channels Spiritual Energy through vein-like runes along its shaft and can be paired with the White Elephant Spear Technique. 239 240
- Can weaponize other beings into powerful, growing magic weapons; the affected person temporarily appears female. 241 246
- The target's weaponized form cannot be restored for at least seven days after release. 243 246
- Xiao Miao can threaten to self-destruct weapons he has refined, giving him leverage over Yu Yifan and Hu Kai. 246 247
- Can also refine plants and other low-awareness life into lower-grade magic treasures. 256
Great Sun Cycle
A secret technique inherited from the Great Sun Venerable in a Small Grotto-Heaven. Xiao Miao confirms its safety with Chu Ke before cultivating it. 248
- Strengthens and stabilizes Spiritual Root magical artifacts, helping endure the side effects of the Mystic Law Devil Divine Art. 248
- Lets Xiao Miao coordinate the magical artifacts of himself, Yu Yifan, and Hu Kai to achieve improvised flight despite Foundation Establishment cultivators normally lacking flight. 250 255
- Allows him to control their rotation into a “perfect Golden Spin,” producing destructive force comparable to a Golden Core strike. 250
Pill Refinement and Concealment
Xiao Miao demonstrates natural talent for pill refinement and quickly succeeds in preparing Chu Ke's dantian-restoring ointment on his first attempt. 229
- Uses Chu Ke's prescription to repair his own dantian and meridians. 229
- Employs a veil, black face covering, and a pill-assisted disguise technique before entering the Different Flame Secret Realm. 232
- Receives a minor technique that creates an external meridian and dantian, enabling him to cultivate a second technique while concealing his true cultivation art from the Jade Moon Holy Land. 260
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Broken Talisman — Cracked gray-green pendant containing Chu Ke's consciousness and serving as the link between master and disciple. 227 228

- White Elephant Spear Technique — Heaven-Rank, Low-Grade martial skill granted by Chu Ke. 239
- Storage Ring — Used to carry his possessions while traveling and exploring the Secret Realm. 231 257

- Xiao Cheng — Father and head of the Xiao Family. He supports Xiao Miao's recovery, hides the blood-written breakup letter, and is proud when Xiao Miao gains the chance to enter a Holy Land. 231 260
- Huang Yingying — Fiancée. Xiao Miao initially mistakes her visit for an attempt to break their engagement, but learns she has spent years seeking a cure for him; he resolves to make amends. 228 231

- Hu Kai — A late Foundation Establishment cultivator who first attacks Xiao Miao in the Secret Realm. They become reluctant temporary allies after Xiao Miao weaponizes him. 232 241 246
- Yao Peipei — A prospective Jade Moon Holy Land Holy Maiden secretly living as a woman. Xiao Miao uses his technique to help preserve Yao Peipei's disguise, receiving a recommendation to join the Holy Land in return. 258 260

Trivia
- Xiao Miao read the name of Chu Ke's “Magical Girl Divine Art” backwards as the “Mystic Law Devil Divine Art,” causing him to miss the technique's most consequential side effects. 238
- Chu Ke gives him the Dharma name Mi Ku and instructs him to claim that a green-haired being bestowed it in a dream if the Future Sect contacts him. 236
- Though Xiao Cheng praises him as having “the bearing of a Holy Son,” Xiao Miao does not answer, likely due to his feminized appearance and the circumstances surrounding his cultivation. 260
