After school began the next day, Naruto was surprised to find that Sasuke, who had always been somewhat tsundere, actually took the initiative to come talk to him.
Though the situation was a little awkward, it was clear that Sasuke was trying to show him goodwill and wanted to become good friends with him.
Although Naruto had some doubts about this change, he was still happy to accept it.
They each carried the Chakra of Asura and Indra.
Asura and Indra were the two children of Hagoromo Otsutsuki.
Indra was the elder son. He inherited the Sage's eyes and spiritual power, and had been an exceptionally gifted genius since childhood.
Asura was the younger son. He inherited the Sage's body and possessed extraordinary physical strength.
Because the two brothers held different ideals—elder brother Indra revered force, while younger brother Asura upheld equal love—the Sage of Six Paths passed the Ninja Sect's legacy on to Asura before his death.
Driven by jealousy, elder brother Indra began an endless cycle with Asura, possessing their descendants and fighting one another again and again.
In the previous generation, Indra's Chakra had attached itself to Uchiha Madara, while Asura's Chakra had attached itself to Hashirama Senju.
Under the influence of Asura and Indra's Chakra, the two eventually erupted into a great battle at the Valley of the End.
After their deaths, the next generation of Asura's Chakra attached itself to Naruto, while the next generation of Indra's Chakra attached itself to Sasuke.
If nothing unexpected happened, the two were bound to face each other in battle. Once that battle ended, Sasuke would formally acknowledge Naruto, finally ending the twisted relationship of Asura and Indra constantly reincarnating and possessing their descendants.
The other students were also surprised by Sasuke's change toward Naruto. It was not just Naruto either; Sasuke had originally been somewhat tsundere and poor at interacting with others.
Starting that day, Sasuke was actually willing to greet them. As long as they were friends with Naruto, Sasuke was at least willing to chat with them.
They did not get along like real brothers or anything, but they were at least fairly good friends.
From then on, Naruto began his official life at the Ninja Academy.
At first, he had still been willing to attend the Ninja Academy and study, but later he realized that it could not teach him anything and instead wasted his training time.
So Naruto eventually created a Shadow Clone and had it attend the Ninja Academy in his place.
He himself chose to hide in the Small Forest far from the village and train continuously.
Whenever he had nothing to do, he would wander the streets more often, hoping to run into a few characters from the original story and pick up some missions.
If there was a mission, he would do it. If there was not, he would finish strolling around and go home to rest.
Several times during that period, after training, he unconsciously entered the Nine-Tails' mental space. The Nine-Tails seemed much easier to talk to now, pestering Naruto about the later plot. Naturally, Naruto did not tell him, only saying that he would tell Kurama when he had the chance.
Kurama had been fobbed off by Naruto's "next time, for sure."
But through their repeated conversations, Kurama gradually came to acknowledge Naruto.
Once, Naruto and Kurama were idly chatting in the sewers.
For some reason, Naruto felt that Kurama was rather pitiful too. He had clearly done nothing wrong and was a good fox deep down. He had been hiding peacefully in some unknown place.
Then one day, he ran into Konoha's punk, Uchiha Madara.
With no real preparation, he was directly controlled by Uchiha Madara's Mangekyō Sharingan.
Next, let's see what happened from the Nine-Tails' perspective.
Come on! Deceive! Come on! Ambush! Me, an ancient Tailed Beast of who knew how many years, an old comrade!
Was that fair? I said, that was not fair!
When I woke up, I found some kind of Chakra armor on my body, while a little man stood across from me. I thought it would be an easy match.
But that little man slapped his hands together, did not even need Hand Seals, and suddenly summoned a Wood Golem with thousands of arms. It beat me senseless, and I lost consciousness.
When I woke up again, I saw that little man from before, apparently named Hashirama Senju.
He shouted something at me like, "Nine-Tails, you're too dangerous. If I leave you alone, you'll cause harm and destruction to others. To prevent that from happening, I'm going to seal you!"
Then, for no reason at all, Hashirama Senju suppressed and beat me with his powerful Wood Release. There was also a woman named Uzumaki Mito, who could use that damned Fuinjutsu, and her life force was absurdly tenacious. So I was sealed inside this person called Uzumaki Mito.
Inside her body, I learned that Hashirama Senju had finally died. As long as I outlived Uzumaki Mito too, I could regain my freedom.
But no one expected Uzumaki Mito to be so hateful. She actually had a backup plan, somehow abducting a little girl named Uzumaki Kushina. She was Mito's clanswoman and possessed powerful life force and sealing abilities too.
No sooner had I escaped the tiger's mouth than I entered the wolf's den.
I thought that if I just waited long enough, I could gain my freedom.
Those hateful humans never considered my feelings at all. I clearly did not want to do anything. I was just lazing around in the wilderness when they captured me and treated me like some pet, sealing me inside whoever they wanted without ever asking for my opinion!
After Uzumaki Mito died, I was sealed inside Uzumaki Kushina.
Fortunately, Uzumaki Kushina did not go find another Uzumaki clansman somewhere.
Maybe if I just outlasted Kushina, I could truly regain my freedom.
Then, out of nowhere, the Masked Man released me while Kushina was giving birth.
I had been locked up for so long. What was wrong with coming out to get some fresh air!
I had barely done anything when that Masked Man controlled me with his Sharingan and made me destroy Konoha.
That damned Minato Namikaze used some unknown Fuinjutsu to seal half of my Chakra inside his own body. Then he died with my Chakra, the kind where he could not even be revived.
Then my other half of Chakra was sealed into the newborn Uzumaki Naruto by Uzumaki Kushina before she died.
These humans were truly ruthless. They could even bring themselves to hurt their own newborn child. Unlike our big Tailed Beast family, where everyone loved one another and lived in harmony.
At most, we spat out a few Tailed Beast Bombs while playing around. What big deal was that? At most, we flattened a few mountains. How was that a big deal?
Only after living inside Uzumaki Naruto did I realize that someone could truly have such a miserable life. He was despised by the villagers and deceived by some unknown old man. I did not know what that old man was doing, but I could sense that he meant Naruto harm.
He carried malice that was half good and half bad. Humans really were complicated.
After living in Uzumaki Naruto's body for so long, there were times when I looked through Naruto's memories and felt that these humans had gone too far.
Naruto was like me. He had clearly done nothing, yet some inexplicable label was pinned on him.
Then people hated him, despised him, and loathed him.
We were clearly not the ones in the wrong. This world was. So I began slowly infiltrating Naruto's body and lending him a little of my Chakra.
As long as I broke Kushina's seal, I could become free and leave Naruto's body.
As for whether Naruto would die after I left him? I could not say. In any case, it had nothing to do with me.
If anyone was to blame, it was Naruto's own mother for so heartlessly putting me inside her child's body.
As the days passed, more and more of my Chakra remained inside Naruto, and the seal grew looser and looser. At last, I saw the possibility of escape.
But guess what happened? One day, Naruto's power suddenly became stronger. He became more and more like his damned bargain-bin mother and that Uzumaki Mito.
The seal I had worked so hard to infiltrate was reinforced again. I really... I have an 8 a.m. class! Aminos!
Then he came before me and said a whole bunch of incomprehensible things.
At first, I did not believe Naruto's nonsense. Not until Naruto started spoiling the future for me.
He said the masked person was Obito, Minato Namikaze's former student.
He said Obito started the Ninja World War for a woman, creating a world with only Rin in it.
He said Uchiha Madara, who had controlled me before, was dead, but not completely dead, and was waiting for someone to revive him.
He even knew the names of us nine Tailed Beasts, knew the old man's name, and knew about the old man's eyes.
All of it was strange, so I inevitably came to believe him.
Later, I realized that he was different from those people before.
Uchiha Madara only wanted my Chakra so he could defeat Hashirama Senju.
Uzumaki Mito sealed me inside herself in order to help Hashirama Senju seal me away.
And under Uzumaki Mito's guidance, Uzumaki Kushina took over the task of sealing me.
But Naruto was different. He had been forced into it and had no choice.
He had been with me since birth. In a way, perhaps we could even be considered brothers from different fathers and mothers.
And from Naruto, I could not sense even a trace of malice.
It was clearly because I was inside him that he suffered so much unfair treatment. It was clearly because of me that he was always unable to eat his fill, went hungry, and was despised by others.
He clearly knew everything. He knew it was because of me. Yet even so, he held not a shred of malice.
Perhaps he truly possessed a Pure Heart. Or perhaps he was the Child of Prophecy the old man spoke of, the one who could change the fate of the ninja world!
Later, he told me that we would become inseparable comrades and good friends, though I drove him away.
But I still somewhat believed in the sincerity that showed in his eyes when he said those words. He truly considered me a friend.
I had never had a human friend before. It was quite a novel experience.
Later, he seemed to grow stronger and stronger, and I became less and less able to see through him.
He was also gradually able to enter my mental space by his own will.
Later still, perhaps because he was afraid I would be bored, he came to chat with me every so often.
I had to admit, perhaps we truly had become friends.
That was the story of me, the Nine-Tails, Kurama, so far!
