"Warden, please remain calm."
Seeing Guan Ran suddenly erupt at this moment and use the barrier to escape, apparently intending to destroy the entire oasis, Elizabeth was about to act when the clown grabbed her arm and stopped her.
"You... are you his accomplice?" Elizabeth turned to attack the clown, but stopped herself out of consideration for his identity.
"Warden, you really do have quite the temper. I noticed early on that there was something wrong with this fellow. It was only a matter of time before he fled. I don't know how he was imprisoned in the Abyss of Ten Thousand Sins, but Zero would never lock up an innocent person just because of an apostle's words. Still, the more troublesome he is, the more beneficial it is for us."
"How am I supposed to trust you?" Elizabeth stared at the clown.
"I don't know... As long as Zhang Chen trusts me, isn't that enough?"
Mindful of the clown's identity, Elizabeth temporarily avoided clashing with him and turned her gaze toward the oasis barrier before them. The aura emanating from within was somewhat similar to Guan Ran's. She could not determine whether it was a measure Guan Ran had left behind centuries ago, before he was captured and taken to the Abyss of Ten Thousand Sins, or whether someone in the Ghoul Realm had long since joined forces with him.
"There's something wrong with the barrier, but the oasis is real. It wouldn't be bad to go in and rest."
The clown stepped forward and pressed his palm against the barrier. A great number of crimson tongues immediately wriggled out from the ground below, but just as they wrapped toward the clown, the barrier's internal structure was completely destroyed. The tongues went limp, and the whole formation decayed.
