Ever since the foundations of the Prehistoric Dynasty had been wiped out, the Underworld had lost all Soul Stones carrying the Jailer Aura and all cultivation insights.
In truth, this had not been Azathoth's doing to utterly exterminate the Jailers, but a choice made by the Underworld Consciousness. During the Underworld's golden age, the Prehistoric Dynasty ruled by the Emperor had been observed by the Underworld Consciousness. Yet it had ultimately suffered a crushing defeat.
That outcome had completely changed the Underworld Consciousness's original intentions. In its eyes, the Prehistoric Dynasty had already been an exceptionally perfect and prosperous nation. Its finest members could rival the foremost Apostles, yet it had still met such an end.
If the prehistoric foundations had been preserved, the developing Jailers might have once again given rise to a nation like the Prehistoric Dynasty, only to suffer another devastating defeat.
Thus, the Underworld Consciousness had handed everything left behind by the Prehistoric Dynasty to the Emperor's consciousness for control, sealing it beneath the Spirit Mountain Pool where no one could reach it. It allowed the Jailers to begin developing anew from a completely different starting point.
However, this period of development had not lasted nearly as long as the prehistoric era. Not a single Jailer Marshal had been born. Including the unstable Chris, as well as Elder Wu and Tian Jing sealed within the Spirit Mountain Range, there were only twelve surviving Jailers.
It was merely a matter of time. Otherwise, among these twelve, Jailer Marshals would surely have emerged—and more than one at that.
