Battle Against Black Watch

Black Watch was subordinate to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of the Great American Country's Department of Defense and received strong support from the Great American Country. Even Captain Robert Hess, an elite among elites, had been personally invited by General Randall to join Black Watch after an operation (comic plot).

After all, when a group carried out a mission against infected animals, everyone else died while one tough guy fought his way out alone, Peter Randall felt that even Black Watch had no such elite, so he personally invited him.

But now, he felt greatly disappointed. The most elite captain, the most elite Black Watch soldiers, and the Special Forces Deer assigned to miscellaneous work—yet the casualties had become even worse?

"Sir, a new type of infected monster has appeared recently. Our men are no match for it."

Captain Robert said.

"What kind of monster could possibly handle someone like you, who killed a female Runner alone?"

General Randall said skeptically.

Runners, or rather Advanced Infected, were similar to Alex Mercer. The difference was that Captain Robert had already killed one single-handedly.

"Sir, it wasn't me. It was the soldiers."

Captain Robert corrected him.

Against the Degenerate Hunters that came and went like the wind, even Black Watch soldiers—super elites far exceeding the Marine Corps—saw their numbers plummet in a short time. They were simply no match for the Degenerate Hunters.

General Randall soon saw the materials Captain Robert had brought: unbearable photographs, shocking scenes, along with video and audio recordings. In the footage, there was only a fleeting shadow and the soldiers' screams.

"They move in groups, and they're extremely fast."

Then came images of the True Bodies behind those shadows—the slain Degenerate Hunters. Even though Chang Wei had specially enhanced their speed, making their casualty rate much lower than that of Hunters fighting head-on, that did not mean they could not die.

Photos of the corpses, their dissected internal structures, and more. General Randall flipped through them.

"They look like smaller Hunters?"

"Yes, but they're more troublesome and smarter. Hunters don't dodge attacks and are easy to hit. These things know how to disrupt our vision, evade, and cooperate, just like wolf packs and lion prides. We even found a more powerful Blacklight Virus within them. The gap is like that between a Black Hawk and an Apache. They're both Helicopters, but their roles and firepower are completely different."

Captain Robert continued.

General Randall frowned, then decided to have Captain Robert lead the Super Soldiers against these new "Wolf Pack Hunters" that had caused such heavy casualties.

Super Soldiers were powerful Blacklight-infected humans created by injecting the Blacklight Virus into human bodies and modifying them. The difference was that their use of the Blacklight Virus had reached an unbelievable level. Aside from growing larger, the infected displayed no mutations and did not lose their sanity. It could be called an extremely perfect modification.

Moreover, Super Soldiers were very powerful. They had even suppressed Alex Mercer for a time. One had to know that Alex Mercer at that point had consumed everything except Super Hunters and Elizabeth.

With the Super Soldiers taking action, and with the first-generation Super Soldiers not being as sluggish as the second generation, the Degenerate Hunters' casualties began to rise for a time.

This caught the attention of the Four-armed Hunter, the "spreader." Its Intellectual Level was not low. Chang Wei had given it memories concerning Black Watch and Alex Mercer, so it knew quite a few things. It then passed those memories on to the Degenerate Hunters through viral infection, which was why the Degenerate Hunters knew how to cooperate, coordinate, and dodge attacks, making them seem very intelligent.

The Four-armed Hunter had originally targeted neither side. The Degenerate Hunters were meant to search for and track Alex Mercer. But Black Watch had provoked them first and caused heavy casualties among the Degenerate Hunters. That was something the Four-armed Hunter could not tolerate.

Spreading the Blacklight Virus had been hard work for it. The mother body had only created one of it, forcing it to keep spreading and feeding. It had finally managed to create several hundred Degenerate Hunters, only for dozens to die at once. That already counted as a severe loss of troops.

Chang Wei felt that one Four-armed Hunter was enough for Manhattan Island. With nothing to do for the moment, he headed to the bridge where Black Watch had sealed off Manhattan Island, intending to break through the blockade.

The Four-armed Hunter launched a Sneak Attack on the Super Soldiers. After several hundred Degenerate Hunters locked onto the Super Soldiers' positions, they swarmed them. Under these circumstances, although the Super Soldiers were Thick-skinned and Tough, and the Degenerate Hunters' attacks could not break their defenses because they had not reached Hunter-level power, there was still the Four-armed Hunter launching Sneak Attacks from the shadows.

With the strength of Chang Wei's Four-armed Hegemon Form when fighting Hunters, killing a Super Soldier in one blow might have been a little exaggerated, but crippling one with a single strike was no problem. Furthermore, Super Soldiers did not possess the Recovery ability of Hunters.

Thus, all the Super Soldiers Black Watch had just developed were wiped out at once.
