Chapter 28: Rin Tohsaka Also Wants to Be a Demon God - Fierce Battle

Mt. Ryudou was like a boiling cauldron. Countless Black Mud incarnations in the form of Irisviel's puppets let out agonized screams, constantly gathering. From a distance, Mt. Ryudou now resembled some kind of indescribable monster. The Mud Dolls formed hundreds of tentacles that shot straight into the sky, twisting and pointing toward the heavens.

Soon, one tentacle after another broke through Gilgamesh's interception and latched onto the Garden of Avalon. Then, Mud Dolls climbed onto the Garden one by one, emitting piercing shrieks as they charged toward the palace at the Garden's center.

Rin Tohsaka sat on the steps. She was utterly exhausted at this point. The day's intense battles had overloaded her immature Magic Circuits numerous times. If anyone could see inside Rin Tohsaka's body at that moment, they would find that her Magic Circuits had already developed tiny cracks.

Facing the Mud Dolls that had breached the Garden, Rin calmly snapped her fingers from her seat on the steps. Then, intense heat arrived. Hundreds of Witch-King Slayers, activated by Rin, roared into existence within the garden that had once been a mythical paradise. But with the appearance of these hundreds of Witch-King Slayers, the garden now resembled a hellscape. The ground melted, pillars melted, everything visible melted, and even the air began to distort.

Rin covered her mouth and nose, trying as best she could to avoid burning her lungs with the scorching air. She took one last look at the hell before her, stood up, and entered the palace. Although the Witch-King Slayers were far smaller than when Rin supported them with her own magical energy, thanks to the ultra-high-quality jewels provided by Gilgamesh, they still stood over two meters tall, with terrifying temperatures exceeding 2000 degrees.

Angra Mainyu, incarnated as the Evil Saintess, had also been lurking among the Mud Dolls that had climbed onto the Garden of Avalon. The hydra, now filled with Black Mud, stretched its nine enormous heads and let out a sky-shaking roar.

The hydra crushed everything in its path as it entered the garden. Opening its gaping maws, it took turns spitting black sludge at the Witch-King Slayers within.

The Witch-King Slayers charged at this behemoth one after another, roaring as they climbed onto the hydra's body, raising their giant flaming crosses in an attempt to destroy it.

The hydra fought back fiercely. While absorbing the surrounding Mud Dolls to repair itself, it took turns extending its nine heads to bite and tear at the Witch-King Slayers on its body, all while continuously spitting black sludge at those farther away. As these two types of undying summons engaged in a frenzied battle, more and more Witch-King Slayers were drawn to the hydra. After some time, most of the leaderless Witch-King Slayers were locked in combat with the hydra, leaving the path to the palace open.

The Evil Saintess stepped onto the palace steps, gazing into the dim interior.

"Hehehe, Rin Tohsaka, I'm coming!"

As Mud Dolls entered the palace corridors, Semiramis decisively activated the palace's internal Defensive Spells. Thousands of Dragon Tooth Soldiers, accompanied by a toxic Purple Mist, filled the entire corridor.

The Evil Saintess let out a mocking laugh.

"Still trying to resist, even now?"

She extended her hand, and a Magic Array appeared before her. A pitch-black Mage Cannon blasted through the entire corridor, wiping out the Dragon Tooth Soldiers.

In the hall, Rin Tohsaka, draped in Caster's Golden Fleece to alleviate the damage to her Magic Circuits, sat alone on the throne. She rested her chin on her hand, silently watching the entrance.

Before long, the Evil Saintess slowly walked into the hall. Seeing Rin Tohsaka alone, she sneered.

"Hahaha, Rin Tohsaka, have you given up? Don't tell me you naively think you can stop me by yourself. What about your Servants? Aren't you going to call them out?"

"Ah, no rush. I don't want to fight half a Magician. I'll call them over soon."

The Evil Saintess suddenly thought of something and quickly raised her hand. A pitch-black Magic Bullet instantly struck the throne. The massive explosion kicked up dust, temporarily obscuring the Evil Saintess's vision.

When the smoke cleared, the first thing to appear before the Evil Saintess was a massive, petal-like Noble Phantasm: Seven Heavenly Rings. Behind it stood Gilgamesh, glaring furiously at the Evil Saintess.

"Scum, I've finally caught you!"

Then, Semiramis, holding the Jewel Sword, plunged it deep into the Evil Saintess's back. Simultaneously, Gilgamesh shot another Jewel Sword, piercing through the Evil Saintess's heart from the front.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah—!"

A piercing scream erupted from the Evil Saintess's mouth as she was struck.

Semiramis released her grip on the Jewel Sword and stepped back lightly.

"Apologies, you may have forgotten. This one is also an Assassin. So now, Angra Mainyu, I think you understand what an Assassin truly is."

Boom. Mt. Ryudou shattered. The Garden of Avalon embedded itself directly into the space where Mt. Ryudou once stood. The seal contracted, and the Black Mud was swept back by the sealing force. Everything was absorbed into the hall where Caster had performed the sealing ritual earlier.

In the Palace Hall of the Garden of Avalon, the tremors ceased. Rin nodded to Semiramis, who was supporting her.

"Thank you, Semiramis."

Then she turned to Caster behind her.

"Caster, please summon the Holy Grail."

Caster walked slowly to Irisviel's side, used magecraft to extract the Lesser Grail from Irisviel's body, and handed it to Rin. Then she exchanged a smile with Semiramis.

"Goodbye, Master. Thank you for always trusting me..."

"Goodbye, Master. I still firmly believe that you are the reincarnation of the goddess Ishtar..."

Although Rin had long prepared herself for this moment, when these two Servants who had accompanied her for several days disappeared, an indescribable sorrow welled up in her heart. As everything settled, Kiritsugu Emiya cautiously made his way to the ruins of the Garden of Avalon. Entering the palace and stepping into the great hall, he ignored Irisviel's corpse on the floor, raised the gun loaded with an Origin Bullet, and aimed it at Rin, who sat dazed on the throne.
