Ten Thousand Year Ninth Grade Ginseng King?!
The Ice Empress could not help but stare in astonishment.
After all those twists and turns, it had somehow come back to this?
"You said before that the Ten Thousand Year Ninth Grade Ginseng King is hidden in the Icebound Forest to the south?" the Ice Empress asked for confirmation.
"More or less, but I can't be certain," Huo Yuhao said.
"Then let us depart at once for the Icebound Forest and capture the Ten Thousand Year Ninth Grade Ginseng King to heal Xue Er's injuries." The Ice Empress's eyes flickered.
No matter what, she had to help the Snow Empress resolve the hidden ailment in her body. This was her fault.
"There's no need to rush. You've just passed your Heavenly Tribulation, Ice. Rest and recover first," the Snow Empress said, shaking her head.
The Ice Empress had just survived her four-hundred-thousand-year Heavenly Tribulation. Her hair was disheveled, her body covered in wounds, and even her face was injured. She looked utterly miserable.
The Ice Empress shook her head in refusal.
"I'm fine. Finding the Ten Thousand Year Ninth Grade Ginseng King is what matters most right now."
The Snow Empress was somewhat helpless and turned her gaze toward Huo Yuhao beside them.
The Ice Empress did the same.
Faced with the questioning gazes of the Ice and Snow Two Emperors, Huo Yuhao coughed softly.
"I think we should rest and catch our breath for a while first. It won't delay us for too long..." Before Huo Yuhao could finish, he fainted and collapsed.
Seeing this, the Snow Empress immediately rose to support him, only to fall over along with him.
The Snow Empress lay on the ice field with the unconscious Huo Yuhao pressing against her waist.
"Xue Er!" The Ice Empress hurried forward, pulled Huo Yuhao off the Snow Empress, then turned toward Brother Sky Dream, who was standing nearby. "Why are you still standing there? Come help!"
Brother Sky Dream gave an "oh" and promptly scampered over, helping Huo Yuhao lean against the side.
The Ice Empress helped the Snow Empress up and transferred Soul Power to her.
"How is he?" The Snow Empress was feeling weak, unable to summon any strength.
"Oh, him? He overexerted his Spiritual Power and passed out. He'll be fine after resting for a while," Brother Sky Dream explained.
Only then did the Snow Empress relax somewhat.
"Ice, do you know where he came from?" the Snow Empress asked as she looked at the unconscious Huo Yuhao.
"He was brought here by this fellow." The Ice Empress shifted her gaze toward Brother Sky Dream.
The Snow Empress then looked at Brother Sky Dream.
"Me?" Brother Sky Dream immediately grew nervous. "He said his name was Huo Yuhao and that he came from..."
Brother Sky Dream told them everything he knew.
He had complicated feelings toward Huo Yuhao as well.
This human was strange. He possessed tremendous strength and could clearly have killed him directly to take his soul ring, yet he had insisted on tricking him into making a Sacrifice, claiming he could help him become a god.
He had brought Huo Yuhao to find the Ice Empress because he had wanted to use the opportunity to escape.
The Snow Empress listened intently.
After hearing this, the Ice Empress added a few details of her own.
What he had mentioned was largely related to the Snow Empress.
He had said that ten thousand years later, she had failed to survive the four-hundred-thousand-year tribulation. Under Brother Sky Dream's guidance, she had chosen to attach herself to him and thus became his Second Martial Soul.
Brother Sky Dream stepped forward to state that if he made a Sacrifice, he truly could help someone awaken a Second Martial Soul.
But the issue was, he had not made a Sacrifice. How had the other party known that he could help someone awaken a Second Martial Soul?
Could he truly have come from ten thousand years in the future?
The Ice Empress said that he had claimed Xue Er's body developed hidden problems because of her Heavenly Tribulation. In the end, she chose to rebuild herself in human form, only to be picked up by humans who had ventured deep into the Far North Land.
Later, he had rescued her amid the chaos at an auction.
"At the time, I thought he wanted to kill you for your soul ring after rescuing you. He said something very strange then." The Ice Empress's expression was rather peculiar.
"What?" the Snow Empress could not help asking.
"How could I bear to hurt her?" The Ice Empress repeated it in Huo Yuhao's tone.
In an instant, the Snow Empress's gaze lost focus slightly.
She looked at Huo Yuhao's sleeping profile, and something stirred in her heart.
At first, she had wondered why he cared so much about her safety.
That complicated look in his eyes when they first met had seemed like the longing of someone who had not seen her for many years.
That special emotion in his gaze had been impossible to conceal.
He could risk his life to shield the Ice Empress from the Heavenly Tribulation, and when she was injured, he showed intense fluctuations of nervousness, as though he feared something.
It was an emotion called "care."
So it had not been an illusion. He truly knew them.
It seemed that their existence was very important to him.
It was only that they did not know him yet.
Huo Yuhao.
Who knew how much time had passed.
Huo Yuhao slowly woke on the Mystic Ice Jade Bed and raised a hand to clutch his head.
His head felt as though it were splitting apart. His spirits were low, and he looked terrible.
Whether borrowing Old Yi's strength or triggering the power of the Divine Soul at a critical moment, both placed an enormous burden on his body and mind.
Huo Yuhao got up from the Mystic Jade Bed and looked around.
Ahead lay a vast frozen jade-green lake, its surface veiled in a faint icy mist. Snow Mountains surrounded it on all sides, covered in silver-white snow. The valley's scenery was breathtaking.
As his gaze swept around, he saw a Beautiful Figure standing in the center of the ice lake. She was tall and dressed in a plain white gown, her snow-white hair cascading down her back. At that moment, she had her head raised toward the falling snow, blending into the heavens and earth.
Huo Yuhao stared at her back, his gaze slightly unfocused.
The white figure in the middle of the lake seemed to sense his gaze. She suddenly turned around, her azure eyes settling upon him as she walked toward him.
"You're awake?"
"Snow Empress," Huo Yuhao called softly.
"Brother Sky Dream said your condition is not very good and that you need time to recuperate." The Snow Empress walked over and sat on the edge of the Mystic Ice Jade Bed. She raised a hand to gently stroke the icy surface, her gaze resting on the view of Jade Ice Lake ahead.
"Mm, it has affected me somewhat. How are you?" Huo Yuhao sounded a little restrained.
"As long as I do not fight with all my strength, I am still alright," the Snow Empress said quietly.
She was too close!
Huo Yuhao felt awkward inside.
The Snow Empress's casual manner made him somewhat uncomfortable.
There was no denying that the Snow Empress was important to him.
But their bond had originally been cultivated through the Snow Woman.
The true Snow Empress was the unattainable ruler of the ice plains. Peerless beauty, cold elegance, and aloof pride were her defining traits.
Now, the Snow Empress was a fully matured beauty, while he had returned to his youth.
The contrast truly felt strange.
"Where are the Ice Empress and Brother Sky Dream? Why don't I see them?!" Huo Yuhao searched for a topic to ease the awkward atmosphere.
"Ice's injuries have mostly healed. She went out hunting," the Snow Empress said gently.
"Hunting?" Huo Yuhao asked.
"Mm. We have to eat, after all." The Snow Empress nodded.
Seemingly noticing Huo Yuhao's surprise, the Snow Empress smiled and asked, "Do you think that, as rulers of the snowfields, we should love our people like our children and neither covet nor kill?"
"No. Survival of the fittest, the strong prey on the weak. It just feels... a little contradictory," Huo Yuhao explained.
If Di Tian, Bear Monarch, or other Ferocious Beasts did such things, he would find it perfectly normal. Yet when it came to the Ice and Snow Two Emperors, it somehow felt abrupt and out of place.
He did not know why he had such a fixed impression. Perhaps the image of the Snow Empress as a spirit born of heaven and earth, living on morning mist and dew, was deeply rooted in his mind. He had overlooked the fact that the Ice Empress was a carnivorous predator.
But if the Ice Empress had gone hunting, why had Brother Sky Dream followed her? To add himself to the menu?
Then Huo Yuhao saw the Ice Empress flying back to the valley through the air, carrying a Snowfield Mammoth over ten meters long upside down across her shoulder. With a bang, she hurled it onto the surface of Jade Ice Lake, sending ice mist billowing up.
Second Martial Soul candidate: Ice Fire Dragon King Soul. The reason was simple: Old Yi had reminded him that there was something beneath the Ice Fire Spring, which could tie into Di Tian and Gu Yuena later on.
If you have any good ideas, feel free to speak up. They do not have to be ice or beast martial souls, though ones that better fit the original novel would be preferable.
