Ch. 1Necromancers Have No Future

Wu Heng registered as a Necromancer in Blackstone Town, where strict laws sharply limited his abilities, then returned through a portal to the Zombie-infested Modern World. He saw that the familiar world remained overrun by the undead.

Ch. 2Home Is Gone

Wu Heng prepared to explore the Zombie-infested world with his Skeleton Warrior, hoping to gain strength by fighting the undead. After killing several Zombies and raising more Skeleton Warriors, he faced two more approaching from below.

  • Wu Heng left his apartment with a Skeleton Warrior, an iron sword, a short spear, and a pot lid for protection.
  • Wu Heng and the Skeleton Warrior fought the old woman Zombie on the stairs, and the skeleton killed her.
  • A second Zombie attacked Wu Heng, who blocked it with the pot lid while the Skeleton Warrior finished the first Zombie.

Ch. 3Building Up Troops

Wu Heng cleared the apartments in his building with his Skeleton Warriors, expanding his forces and gathering loot. He sold a Jade Cabbage ornament in Blackstone Town for forty Silver Coins and returned with his progress toward leveling up.

  • Wu Heng opened the Portal to the Zombie World and led seventeen Skeleton Warriors onto the rooftop, where they killed four Zombies.

Ch. 5Upgraded

Wu Heng fought through a Zombie-filled stairwell, reached Level 2, and secured the building before recovering and raising more Skeleton Warriors. He led his strengthened force into Building 3, where the dead Zombies and mangled bodies suggested survivors might be nearby.

  • Wu Heng ordered his Skeleton Warriors to fight down the crowded stairwell, using Bone Manipulation Technique to raise more Skeletons as the battle depleted his forces and exhausted him.
  • Wu Heng reached Level 2, then lured nearby Zombies away with a thrown iron sheet and helped the Skeletons reach the entrance and seal the iron door.
  • After the Zombies dispersed, Wu Heng barricaded the entrance, cleared rooms for supplies, and found a motorcycle helmet and outdoor gear.

Ch. 6Habits from When It Was Alive

Wu Heng and his Skeleton Warriors fought and killed a powerful Zombie Teddy in the stairwell. When Wu Heng used Bone Manipulation Technique on its corpse, a Level 5 Skeleton Hound rose, leaving its loyalty uncertain.

  • Wu Heng found mangled Zombies and claw marks in the stairwell, then heard something banging against the railing below.
  • Wu Heng discovered that a resident's Teddy had become a huge Zombie and ordered his Skeleton Warriors to attack it.
  • The Zombie Teddy leaped over the Skeletons, battered them aside, and knocked Wu Heng down the stairs before the Skeletons distracted it.
  • Wu Heng wounded the Zombie Teddy with his Iron Spear, and the Skeleton Warriors overwhelmed and killed it.
  • Wu Heng used Bone Manipulation Technique on the corpse despite a warning about its instability, and a Level 5 Skeleton Hound rose.

Ch. 7Skeleton Dog

Wu Heng discovered that his Skeleton Dog had gained Basic Soulfire and found a Mutated Corpse Core with a possible effect on Constitution. After buying potions and learning that an alchemist could identify the core, he went to the Adventurer's Guild and prepared to post a commission.

  • Wu Heng inspected the Skeleton Dog's attributes and found a springy lump of flesh among the remains of the Zombie Teddy.
  • The Skeleton Poodle made noise in the stairwell until Wu Heng ordered it to stop, then he turned the dead Zombies into skeletons and looted the homes.
  • Wu Heng bought healing and mental potions at the Antler Merchant Shop and learned that an alchemist could identify the Mutated Corpse Core.
  • Wu Heng entered the Adventurer's Guild, went to the counter, and told the clerk he wanted to post a commission.

Ch. 8Who Can Vouch for You?

Wu Heng registered a commission with the Adventurer's Guild to have an Alchemist analyze a Corpse Core and make an antidote if needed, then returned to clearing Zombies in the Zombie World with his Skeleton Warriors. The next morning, Patrol Guards questioned him about where he had been the previous night and asked whether anyone could vouch for him.

  • Wu Heng paid a five-Silver-Coin deposit for the Adventurer's Guild to analyze his Corpse Core and prepare an antidote if necessary.
  • Wu Heng returned home, ate, checked his injuries, and trained before going to bed.
  • Wu Heng brought his Skeleton Warriors into the remaining apartment units, where the Skeleton Dog killed a female Zombie and the squad defeated three more.

Ch. 9Survivors

Wu Heng was questioned by guards investigating a brutal murder, then cleared another apartment unit of Zombies and reached level 3. As he considered a safer route to keep exploring, he spotted a fortified bus carrying survivors fleeing a growing Zombie Horde.

  • Guards questioned Wu Heng about a murder in the crowded district and searched his room, but found nothing.
  • Wu Heng led his Skeleton Warriors into the final unit, killed Zombies, and reached level 3 after defeating the third one.
  • Wu Heng and the skeletons cleared the building and found no survivors.
  • Wu Heng considered crossing to a neighboring rooftop to keep clearing buildings rather than fight the Zombies gathered below.
  • A fortified bus smashed through the streets as a growing Zombie Horde pursued it, and Wu Heng realized survivors were aboard.

Ch. 10Loot Drop!

Wu Heng watched a bus of survivors fall to a Giant Mutated Zombie, then captured a pistol from a wandering Zombie and used it to kill a bandit who attacked him in Blackstone Town. The next morning, he brought the bandit's corpse to the rooftop in the Zombie World and began stripping its equipment.

  • Wu Heng watched a Giant Mutated Zombie smash a bus full of survivors, then noted the danger posed by the mutant and the Zombie Horde.
  • Wu Heng used Skeleton Pigeons and a Climbing Rope to haul a Zombie wearing a pistol up to the rooftop, killed it, and took the weapon.
  • Wu Heng learned that an iron ladder would take too long to build and rejected the blacksmith's alternative crossing methods.
  • Two bandits followed Wu Heng into an alley, where he shot and killed the leader while the other bandit fled.
  • Wu Heng hid the corpse in his room, then told the landlord he had heard the gunshots and continued practicing his spear.
  • Wu Heng returned to the Zombie World at dawn and began removing equipment from the dead bandit's body.

Ch. 11Wanted Criminal

Wu Heng discovered that the man he killed was the wanted criminal Bartholomew and claimed the bounty at the Adventurer's Guild. Before he could choose his reward, Blackstone Town Patrol Guards arrived and tried to take him away.

  • Wu Heng found poison smoke grenades, weapons, armor, potions, and coins among the dead man's belongings, then recognized a familiar scar on the corpse.
  • At the Adventurer's Guild, Wu Heng matched the corpse to the wanted notice for Bartholomew and decided to report the kill and collect the bounty.
  • Guild personnel verified the corpse, and Wu Heng completed an incident report.
  • Wu Heng asked to choose a mage Skill Book as his lower-grade reward, and the clerk went to fetch the available books.
  • Blackstone Town Patrol Guards confronted Wu Heng at the Guild and ordered him to come with them, then reached to seize his arms.

Ch. 12Adventurer's Guild Executive

Wu Heng met Yazde, the Adventurer's Guild executive in Blackstone Town, who offered him permanent membership and protection from the hostility he faced as a Necromancer. Wu Heng applied to join, and Yazde took him to see a corpse.

  • Guards tried to take Wu Heng in for questioning, but a Guild staff member brought him to meet Executive Yazde.
  • Yazde gave Wu Heng a choice of bounty rewards, and Wu Heng took the Money Pouch and the Acid Splash skill book.
  • Yazde offered Wu Heng permanent membership in the Adventurer's Guild, explaining that it would provide legal status, authority, and other benefits.
  • Wu Heng accepted the offer, completed an application, and was told he would receive a response in three or four days.
  • Yazde led Wu Heng to see a corpse.

Ch. 13Level 7 Skeleton

Wu Heng converted the Wanted Criminal he had killed into a level 7 Skeleton Rogue while waiting for the Adventurer's Guild to confirm his appointment. After learning Acid Splash and testing it in the Zombie World, he led his skeletons into battle against the remaining Zombies.

  • Wu Heng learned that his Guild appointment was still pending, then converted the Wanted Criminal into a level 7 Skeleton Rogue and ordered it to obey Mr. Yazde.
  • Mr. Yazde told Wu Heng the guards had left and that he would notify him when the Appointment Letter arrived.
  • Wu Heng read the Acid Splash Skill Book, unlocked the spell, and saw that he had reached level 3.
  • In the Zombie World, Wu Heng tested Acid Splash on a Zombie and found its corrosive effect lasted only a few seconds.
  • Wu Heng equipped the Wanted Criminal's armor, gave his old armor to the Sword-Wielding Skeleton, and led his skeletons into the stairwell, where they cut down the charging Zombies.

Ch. 14Appointment Letter

Wu Heng swallowed a Corpse Core, survived its poison with his custom Antidote Potion, and gained five attribute points before leading his skeletons in a large Zombie-clearing battle. Back in Blackstone Town, Ortluk and Cavina delivered his Appointment Letter and armor, assigned him to the Fourth Squad, and told him to join a mission the next morning.

  • Wu Heng collected his commissioned Antidote Potion and test results from the Adventurer's Hall, then swallowed a Corpse Core and used the potion to survive its poison, gaining five attribute points.
  • Wu Heng sent his skeletons to attack the Zombies surrounding his building, replenished their ranks, and had them pile up the corpses for later conversion.
  • Wu Heng returned to Blackstone Town and overheard useful local information at the tavern before heading home.
  • Ortluk and Cavina arrived at Wu Heng's residence with his Appointment Letter, issued armor, and the Skeleton Warrior of the Wanted Criminal he had killed.
  • Ortluk assigned Wu Heng to the newly established Fourth Squad and told him to meet the team at the West Gate for a mission the next morning.

Ch. 15Adventurer Team

Wu Heng received his Adventurer's Guild appointment and prepared his Skeleton Rogue, Bartholomew, for the team's first mission to Blackstone Town. The next morning, the team boarded an unusual train, where Cavina questioned Bartholomew's helmet.

  • Wu Heng learned that the newly formed Adventurer Team would leave for Blackstone Town the next day to investigate several matters.
  • The captain and Kalena discussed Wu Heng's demeanor and questioned whether he was really a Necromancer.
  • Wu Heng examined his appointment letter, insignia, and new leather armor, then inspected the Skeleton Rogue's strong attributes and abilities.
  • Wu Heng dressed the Skeleton Rogue in armor, clothes, boots, and a motorcycle helmet, named him Bartholomew, and trained with him using wooden sticks.
  • The next morning, Wu Heng and his team boarded a train, and Cavina asked why Bartholomew wore an unusual helmet.

Ch. 16Mine

Wu Heng’s team traveled to Mining Village to investigate the disappearance of its miners and the missing investigators. After their carriage crashed on arrival, they found the villagers acting like undead, and Lord Commander Plamon called Wu Heng over to examine a captured miner.

  • Ortluk explained that the team had to check whether Mine Owner Archido was in danger and assist the guards investigating Mining Village.
  • Archido told Lord Commander Plamon that more than two hundred miners had vanished, leaving their supplies and valuables behind, and that an earlier team of three investigators had also visited.
  • Plamon ordered the team to leave for Mining Village immediately, and their carriage arrived there at dusk after the horses went out of control and crashed.
  • Wu Heng and the others emerged from the wreck to find Mining Village empty, then saw a crowd of crazed figures approaching from the shadows.
  • The guards shot down many attackers with crossbow bolts, and the investigator said the villagers behaved like Undead Species.
  • Plamon captured a crazed miner and summoned Wu Heng to examine him.

Ch. 17Mining Village

Wu Heng's Investigation Team found that the miners were alive but violently deranged, then discovered the bodies and notebook of the previous team, which linked the villagers' nightly gatherings to the mine. As the notebook's clues unsettled the group, they suddenly stared warily behind Wu Heng.

  • Wu Heng examined a frenzied miner and concluded he was alive and likely mad rather than Undead, while the Curly-haired Investigator reached a similar conclusion.
  • Plamon ordered the surviving miners bound, and the Investigation Team proceeded through the deserted village toward the mine.
  • Wu Heng suggested the mission information might have changed or been concealed, but the Curly-haired Investigator argued that the Mine Owner had no reason to deceive them.
  • The group found three dead members of the missing Investigation Team and read a notebook describing villagers gathering to sing and dance at night before walking toward the mountain at dawn.
  • After Wu Heng wondered how the previous team had been discovered, everyone stared behind him, making him turn wary.

Ch. 18Human Bomb

Wu Heng and his companions were overwhelmed by villagers controlled by an Infant Ghost and forced to retreat through a mine village filled with dynamite-wielding attackers. Separated from the group, Wu Heng encountered black-cloaked pursuers carrying a bundle and summoned skeletons to fight them.

  • Skeleton Bartholomew stabbed Wu Heng's shoulder to drive off an Infant Ghost, whose silent wail sent crazed villagers pouring out of the mine tunnels.
  • The commander led the squad north through the attackers, but villagers carrying dynamite ambushed them from alleys and rooftops, killing guards and scattering the group.
  • Wu Heng heard the order to retreat separately and escaped with Skeleton Bartholomew, then encountered black-cloaked people emerging from a mine with a cloth-wrapped bundle.
  • The cloaked group ordered its guards to kill Wu Heng, who took cover from their crossbow bolts and fired back before retreating into a house.
  • Wu Heng threw a Poison Mist Grenade outside, and a Skeleton Dog and other skeletons charged through the smoke to attack the cloaked pursuers.

Ch. 19Golden Leopard

Wu Heng discovered that Archido’s butler had led armed men into Mining Village to retrieve something, while Madam Slyther’s Golden Leopard killed the surviving mercenary after questioning him. The Guard Squad and Adventurer Team prepared to leave without Wu Heng, but he emerged from the village alive with his skeleton.

  • Wu Heng identified Archido’s butler among the attackers’ corpses and ordered the Skeleton Warriors to carry the bodies away.
  • Madam Slyther’s Golden Leopard stopped a fleeing mercenary and forced him to reveal that Archido’s men had been hired to retrieve a tightly wrapped package from deep inside the mine.
  • Madam Slyther ordered Kuro to kill the mercenary, then had the carriage turn back.
  • Cavina told Captain Ortluk that Wu Heng was missing, and Ortluk and Commander Plamon discussed reporting the incident and investigating Archido and Necromantic Magic.
  • Wu Heng emerged from Mining Village with his skeleton, alive and apparently uninjured.

Ch. 20Making Arrests

Wu Heng returned with Archido’s butler’s corpse and reported that Archido’s men had taken an object from the mine, prompting Plamon to arrest Archido and seize a Death Aura–emitting clay pot. On the return train, Ortluk explained the Adventurer’s Guild’s internal divisions, and Cavina warned Wu Heng about the Whisperers.

  • Wu Heng told the Investigation Team that Archido’s men had taken something from the mine and tried to kill him, and he revealed that the corpse he brought back was Archido’s butler.
  • Plamon ordered the butler’s head removed, found horses for the group, and mobilized the station’s troops to arrest Archido.
  • Plamon broke into Archido’s estate, disarmed its guards, and arrested Archido and his companions after Archido emerged carrying a patterned clay pot.
  • Plamon handed the Death Aura–emitting pot to Wu Heng, who placed it in Skeleton Bartholomew’s arms as the group escorted the prisoners away.
  • On the train, Ortluk described the Adventurer’s Guild’s branches, and Cavina warned Wu Heng that Madam Slyther of the Money Cat was a Whisperer.
