Background / History

Tang San arrived at Notting Academy as a work-study student from Holy Soul Village alongside Old Jack. He endured the gatekeeper’s discrimination with humility and patience until Qian Bing intervened on his behalf. Yu Xiaogang subsequently accepted Tang San into his care at the academy. 8 9

Although he possessed Innate Full Spirit Power, Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass was initially regarded as a waste Spirit. Qian Bing encouraged him by emphasizing its potential and later helped guide his Soul Ring choices. 10 54

In the Seventh Dormitory, Tang San became the reluctant dorm leader before being challenged and defeated by Xiao Wu. He accepted her victory and her position as the new leader. 13

Qian Bing later confronted Tang San in the Small Woods, revealing knowledge of his Twin Spirits. Tang San immediately became wary and was prepared to eliminate Qian Bing with hidden weapons if he proved hostile. Over time, however, Qian Bing earned his trust through training and guidance. 20 74

Tang San acquired a Thousand-Year Man-Faced Demon Spider Soul Ring and the rare External Soul Bone known as the Eight Spider Lances. The gains strengthened his Blue Silver Grass, physical attributes, mobility, and control abilities. 177 178

Du Gu Bo captured Tang San in Sunset Forest, but Tang San survived the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. He used his knowledge of poison and Du Gu Yan’s condition to protect Yu Xiaogang, Flander, and Liu Erlong, then spent six months helping treat Du Gu Bo’s poison backlash. 226 229 231 233

After returning to Shrek Academy, Tang San distributed Immortal Herbs to his teammates according to their individual needs. He also forged a business arrangement with Ning Fengzhi, agreeing to provide five hundred sets of Hidden Weapons to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School. 237 251

Tang San later learned that his father, Tang Hao, was the Clear Sky Douluo of the Clear Sky School. Titan recognized him as Tang Hao’s son and offered the Strength Clan’s allegiance. Tang San resolved to grow strong through his own efforts rather than rely on his lineage. 249 250 253 254

Appearance

Tang San is an unassuming teenager with an introverted bearing. He is not particularly muscular, grew somewhat taller over time, and is described as someone who could disappear in a crowd. 186

  • Ordinary-looking appearance. 186
  • Slightly taller after three months of training. 186
  • Eight Spider Lances emerge from his back; after the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, they become dark red with white patterns. 229

Personality

Tang San is calm, observant, and intensely determined. He seldom reveals pain or weakness, even under pressure far beyond his level, and refuses to concede unless he is genuinely unable to continue. 220 249

He is cautious around unknown threats, particularly regarding the secret of his Twin Spirits, but becomes loyal and open toward those who earn his trust. 20 74 177

Tang San also demonstrates thoughtfulness and long-term judgment. He distributes herbs based on his teammates’ needs, chooses a future Soul Ring with the team’s interests in mind, and declines an immediate weapons sale because he has broader plans. 237 244 266
