Background / History

Yu Xiaogang was a prominent figure at Notting Academy when he encountered Tang San and Qian Bing at the academy gate. He apologized for the gatekeeper’s conduct, registered the boys, and accepted responsibility for Qian Bing after Qian Xiao left him in Yu’s care 9 10.

Although known as the “Master,” he was not a formal teacher at Notting Academy; Director Su identified him as a guest researcher. His theories were controversial enough that at least one academy teacher openly dismissed them as ridiculous 10.

During his time at Notting, Yu Xiaogang substituted for Basic Soul Master Theory. Qian Bing’s answer about Soul Ring absorption limits caught his attention, leading Yu to privately question him about the source of his knowledge. Impressed by Qian Bing’s claimed parental notes, Yu offered to take him as a disciple; Qian Bing declined, asking for time to consider 75 77.
