Background / History

Flander operated a dim, cluttered shop in Soto City before Qian Bing and the others entered Shrek Academy. The shop contained Spirit Balls and miscellaneous soul-related objects, though Flander offered customers little assistance and claimed not to know which items were genuine. Qian Bing recognized him as Shrek Academy’s dean and believed his shop contained few truly valuable items due to Flander’s cunning nature 105.

He founded and led Shrek Academy, maintaining strict standards for its students. Although stern, he entrusted the students’ primary training to Yu Xiaogang after seeing the results of Xiaogang’s methods 200.

Flander was one member of the Golden Triangle alongside Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong. Known as the group’s “Flying Corner,” he had feelings for Liu Erlong but ultimately sacrificed those feelings in support of Liu Erlong and Yu Xiaogang 225. He later deliberately led the Shrek group to Blue Tyrant Academy, knowing Liu Erlong was there and intending to reunite the estranged pair 224.

After Shrek Academy’s students graduated, Flander accepted Yu Xiaogang’s proposal to close the academy and have its teachers retire at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, putting the students’ prospects ahead of his own pride 213. When Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s Education Committee treated Shrek’s delegation with formal courtesy, Flander responded with appropriate humility despite his usual arrogance 219. Shrek Academy Dean

Flander formally becomes Qian Bing’s dean after the latter arrives late on his first day at Shrek Academy. He presents a stern, disciplined attitude toward the students 141. He later exposes Qian Bing’s Twin Spirits, forcing the reveal of the Pokedex Spirit, and harshly breaks Ning Rongrong’s pride to push her toward growth 143.

Shrek’s Transition and Departure

After agreeing that Shrek Academy would close for the students’ benefit, Flander leads the group toward Heaven Dou Royal Academy. His cost-cutting travel plan doubles as endurance training, while a stop in Silves City reveals his intention to profit from the team’s Spirit Duels 213 214.

When Yu Xiaogang proposes an over-level battle against the Evil God Team, Flander opposes the plan out of concern for the students’ safety. He ultimately supports them and places a large bet on their victory 215 216.

Heaven Dou and Blue Tyrant Academy

Flander accepts Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s respectful welcome but leads Shrek away after Prince Xue Xing and Du Gu Bo create a hostile environment 219 222. He then directs the group to Blue Tyrant Academy, reunites the Golden Triangle, and assumes leadership after Liu Erlong transfers the academy to him and agrees to rename it Shrek 224 225.

Sunset Forest Graduation Examination

Flander oversees the students’ Soul Beast hunt in Sunset Forest as the first stage of their graduation exam 256.
