Thus, during the voyage that followed, every civilization intensified its probing efforts to ensure the journey's safety. While this did improve travel safety, it also increased energy consumption.
It could be said that when heading toward the first destination, the civilizations still had some confidence that they could make it. But after being forced to change destinations because of the Cosmic Cataclysm zone, they could only grit their teeth and press onward.
A journey of 12.09 million light-years!
When the three Great Voyage Organizations had completed the first two million light-years, those civilizations that had already been suffering from resource shortages could no longer hold on. They truly had no choice but to gamble that their Great Voyage Organization would not abandon them and dismantle their combat fleets for energy.
The Biosphere Spaceships they had brought along had long since been burned as fuel, and the organisms aboard were no longer maintained. Those things were enormous energy drains as well. Now that even their primary lifeforms had to enter prolonged hibernation, how could they spare the energy to care about such things?
When they were eight million light-years from their destination, the Seven Characteristic Technology Civilizations of the Galactic Great Voyage Organization also began dismantling transport ships. Human Civilization, in particular, cut its Consciousness-Linked Warships, already reduced to two billion, by another half and dismantled every ship removed from service for resources.
At the same time, it introduced relevant emergency measures—the long-term hibernation policy.
It required everyone to remain asleep for the full upper limit of one million years during each hibernation cycle, without waking early, before they could awaken for cognitive activity training.
Human Civilization was like this, and the other civilizations were no better off.
The Awakener Civilization even had its individual lifeforms enter dream-hibernation mode to reduce
